Minnesota...

First off, I live in Minnesnowda and let that be known as my first mistake. Anyways, I just find it kind of funny how confident the Gophers are about this game. They keep talking about how Iowa sucks and how Leidner is the next Heisman winner. They even go as far as saying he is the "Tundra Tebow." When a gopher fan I know told me that, it took all that was in me to not laugh in his face! What has he played, like one and a half games? You've got to be kidding me.. Also, they think if they stop Weisman, they win the game. I would have to disagree with that as I think Rudock is very capable of throwing the football around the field. I know he has only played in four collegiate games, but from what I saw on Saturday, he has the ability to feel back side pressure and step up in the pocket. Some may argue he lacks arm strength, but the TD throw he made to Powell in the third quarter was an absolute bullet. He can put some zip on the ball if need be. I do feel Minnesota's defense is better than our first four opponents, but they are vulnerable unlike what the 'ole faithful think up here. They think they can show up, walk off with Floyd and get ready to take down Michigan the following week. Don't get me wrong, this is a huge game. Iowa needs to show up for this one (unlike the last two times at Minny...) to win. But I feel Iowa has the better edge in this game and should come out victorious. Plus, the goophers always seem to start well and once B1G play starts, they start losing. These are just my thoughts about this big upcoming game. Go Hawks!

I didn't know Minnesota football had any fans. Their stadium sure makes it looks that way at least...

yeah, they are a confident bunch for being cellar dwellers for 60 years now. I remember last yr getting crap about how they were going to kill us well, because they beat us 2 yrs in a row! Nevermind the game would be played in Kinnick, the past 2 yrs were against 2 disinterested Iowa teams and it took a whole lot of luck and shenanagans to pull it off. Those game were hard on my kids are school man. Stupid goofer fans were as bad as ISU fans. As long as you beat Iowa or Wisky in MN case or Iowa or Nebby in ISU's case, all is good in their world....

Please, please, please Hawkeyes come out inspired, focused and out-play them dang rodents next Saturday. For the sake of my children!

Someone needs to remind the Gopher faithful what happened last year. Then remind them, we are better on both sides of the ball in the trenches. I'll be very very surprised if they can run the ball the way we have looked against the run. Lynch has gone for 159 and 189 or something like that in the two games after we played them. Granted, we haven't exactly played elite teams, but NIU's offensive line is a bunch of 4th and 5th year guys who played in the Orange Bowl last year. I think we are going to hold up nicely.

If Minnesota is forced to beat us through the air...I feel pretty good about this game.

The way Weisman ran through them last year, and the fact that our offensive line is starting to find their way...I like how it sets up on both sides of the ball.

I just don't see the goofers beating us...unless we turn it over several times.

Im just shocked that they have a head coach. No thats not a seizure joke. Im just shocked he has not stepped away as his health is in no way good enough to keep coaching. I see maybe one more year and he leaves and Minnesota is back to being awful.

I live in Minnesota as well, and I guess I don't run into these Gopher fans at all. The Gopher "fans" that I know have no idea who the Gophers are playing or when, can't name more than 2 players on the team, and when I ask them about their team, they almost always reply: "Oh...I bet we suck as usual."

Easily the most annoying thing about Gopher fans is that when Iowa wins they say "Yea....I don't really care." But when they win, they rub it in like crazy.

And that "We hate Iowa" cheer is disguisting.

I liked playing them late in the season. No team consistently gets worse during the season like Minnesota.

This does not hold true for the golden goofballs. They start their skid when Big Ten play begins, and are bad by the time Iowa plays them at the end of the year. BUT, the Iowa game becomes their bowl game and they play out of their minds and all the chips fall toward them. See the last two times we played up there. I have never been so embarrassed in my life. I was at one of those games.

I would rather play them right now. They played 4 absolute nobodies so far, making Iowa's non con schedule look good by comparison. Time to punch them in the mouth and shut em up.

I live in minnesota too and I have also heard their delusions about how their QB is the best player in college football. It's amazing how much they hate Iowa they even chant We hate Iowa at games when they aren't playing Iowa. Until I moved here I never thought of it as a rivalry but they sure do.

Everyone that is not an Iowa fan seems ignorant to the fact that we do have a few capable running backs other than Weisman. Perhaps this is because Weisman has been getting all the attention due to the amount of carries he has accumulated thus far. Minnesota will need to keep our entire running game in check to stand a chance IMO. I don't think they are capable of doing this.

Minnesota frequently gets off to a great start and finishes the season poorly. This has happened at least five times in the last 10-11 years.

Is the Goofer defense really good? They've given up over 20 in 3 out of their first 4 games against pretty poor competition. The only they game they gave up less than 20 was against the Leathernecks of Western Illinois, and Minnesota struggled a little in that game. I'm not sure where all the confidence comes from. They must hang out with Clone fans.

Looks like they have a very big offensive line/TE for blocking and running backs Weismans size. If that huge QB plays, that's a big team to stop in the run game.

I really hope we stomp the rodents, but this game is in Murderapolis, Mannysnowdays
at Bank$ter stadium in which we have never won

I want to extact revenge from those vermints just like we have against WMU

Glad they are confident. Will be that much a bigger win for Iowa. Iowa knows how to play against mobile QB's and the Tundra Boy will do about as well as Tebow did in the NFL. I've seen Jordan Lynch. He ain't no Lynch. Force him to pass the ball and it's all over for the Rodents.

As others have said we have a very decent run game. I was most impressed with jakes growth this week. Cj laid out for that one and the one into the end zone was a holding. He has figured out how to lead a receiver or throw him open or put the ball where only his guy has a shot at it, however you want to say it. As that window tightens for him, you will see the passing game take off. This kid has a very good chance at being great. Ol looks good, sometimes very good, others meh. The d seems to be holding up front, not sure i would blitz as much against better comp, but it shows that they have been working on all types of qbs. Be hard to run on us qb or rb. That leaves me at our passing d and how worried ( even if a little less now) about what happens if we runn into a very good passing team.

This is a tossup game for a reason...evenly matched teams. The Gophers have big offensive and defensive lines, with Haggeman a true NFL prospect on the d-line. The Hawks will need a break or two to pull this one out. Gophers are convinced that this Iowa game is the key to their whole season. Same is true for Iowa, tho. I think it will be like a 24-23 Iowa win...hopefully. Leidner is a very good runner, but no D-Rob speedwise. Tough and strong tho. Still, if we can stop the run, we have a decent shot. Supposed to rain tho, and that hurts Iowa with our passing attack....hope that forecast changes.
