Minnesota Radio Announcer Calls Iowa Fans 'morons'

"Lotta fans still sticking around, a little chilly, but they're braving it to watch their team here, and they're excited," he said in the fourth quarter. "You gotta remember that these are just simple farmers, people of the land, the common clay of the new west, you know, morons."
Consider the source. These people sit in an ice hut and call it fishing!

While I love that quote...
It's maybe the single greatest ad-libbed moments in cinematic history.

But also, let's enjoy a touch of irony. That line was delivered by a 1955 Iowa grad.

And while I don't mind a little humor and I don't really care so much that it was "against" us, I'm glad Dolph doesn't go that far. I've certainly heard him take some sideways shots, but never that bold and direct.

It's kinda like Fickell a couole weeks ago. You go that far out on a limb and you don't back it up...you look a little silly. Immature. Bitter.

Especially in light of how much Minnesota fans try to make this a Rivalry. It's a rivalry. It's grandfathered in because of a trophy that didn't get lost like so many little brown jugs and whatnot. This is a rivalry 365 days a year for them. For Iowa fans, we think about Minnesota for a few minutes during the week, and then for 3 hours one day a year.

Love it!

It's one thing if a broadcaster says something out of anger or frustration, but humorously putting a tongue-in-cheek spin on a classic line from one of the best comedic movies of all time deserves a tip of the hat,

"Excuse me while I whip this out...."
