Minn @ Iowa Predictions

I'm nervous about this one but I like the Hawks to protect home court.

Hawks by 5.

74-69

I think Minny matches up pretty well with us with their big guys and they will be confident coming off their win as well.

i'm hoping they come in overconfident. will be good to give them a beatdown and that slimeball coach of theirs.

If Iowa wants to be considered a contender for the conf. title they will not lose this game. Period. Hawks by 10.

Although OSU likes to run and push tempo...they obviously didn't do it against Minnesota for some reason. Iowa will make the Minny bigs run and run and run. I just don't think they have an answer for Marble, White, Uthoff, Basabe, and Olesani on the floor at the same time. The only way Minny stays close is if they are hitting 3's. We may sit in a zone and make them beat us from the outside...and have the Hollin's try to launch threes over the a very, very long team. I like our chances and Fran will have them prepared with a full week of prep.

Iowa comes out over confident and rusty, falls behind by double digits in the first half. Hawks make a run in the 2nd half but come up short at the end.

Minnesota 78
Iowa 75

Hawks by 5. It won't be easy. W need to have a good day shooting as their won't be many second chance buckets. Minny best rebounding team we will face.

We're the biggest and deepest inside team Minnesota will face. I'm not convinced their guards can rebound with our big guys when their front court has to sit with fouls.

Comments overheard in the Minnesota locker room at halftime.

Andre Hollins - Austin! You got no game man. People think we're brothers and you're making me look bad. Are you even trying to guard Basabe or White?

Austin Hollins - I can't help it that people think we're brothers and keep overrating my game because you're so good.

Walker - If anybody in here thinks I'm losing anymore weight so I can guard Olaseni you can forget it. I'm going to McDonald's after the game.

Mathieu - I'm shutting Gesell down. He hasn't scored and I've got 8.

Andre Hollins - Gesell has 8 assists and no turnovers. What are you smoking bro?

Smith - I didn't play against anybody this good last year at Florida International. Glad we get to take a step down and play Wisconsin this week. No way we come back in this game. No way!

Osenieks - Did you guys hear when I challenged Marble how to spell my last name after he dunked over me? He didn't even know who I was. Yeah right...just didn't know how to spell it.

Eliason - I didn't agree to become a captain this week for this. I've got 3 fouls in 7 minutes and haven't touched anybody. Didn't you guys see me talking to refs...wouldn't even listen to me. Said all I ever do is whine.

King - They weren't this good when I was at Drake.

Wow, really? If this comes true, then we are not conf. contenders, period.

If Woodbury can go the first six minutes without picking up 2 quick fouls and McCabe can spell him for 2 minutes without picking up 2 fouls then I have to say Iowa wins. Actually even if this happens Iowa wins. McCabe has been picking up the fouls for 3 and 1/2 year and Woody 1 1/2 years so the Hawks are used to playing in that situation. I'd like to see Gabe come out in beast mode with a half dozen blocks while not taking himself out of position defensively and I look for Mel to have a big game 13 points, 9 rebounds and 3 blocks. Iowa wins this 82-71. GO HAWKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
