This will stick, anyone who thinks we go back to what we were doing the first 3 Qs is a fool. Vandy proved he can lead this type of offense and Kirk will let him off the lease. Also, this will open up Coker. Great for our team because teams have something to think about now.

It doesn't surprise me at all that KOK wants to do more. Especially with someone like JVB who looks very accurate and comfortable...OUT OF SHOTGUN. JVB looks like a different QB out of shotgun. As someone said before, he just gets it and throws it. Doesn't have to make as many reads as he drops back.

You make a lot of good points, but I still don't see how the scheme had any effect on some of the awful plays in the first half. For instance, the overthrown pass to McNutt in the end zone (which was an amazingly well-designed playcall)... he had the right read. He had time. There was plenty of room for error. He was just off. I'm not as convinced that the shotgun/lack thereof is responsible for that sort of thing. It's possible that he's gained enough confidence from today that he can be great in any formation; it's also possible that he will continue to have weird lapses even in the shotgun. Time will tell.

But yes, I bet the coaching staff would agree that they don't quite know what they have right now. JVB and the receivers, yes. But are the O-line and Coker really as bad as they looked, or can they be salvaged?

I actually would love that, as long as it was 25% of all series, rather than shifting on a play-by-play basis. That would probably give you 3-4 shotgun/no huddle possessions per game. That seems about right to me.

No, the offense you see next week and for all other games will be the same offense that Ferentz and KOK have run for the past 10 years -- pro-style all the way.

I don't understand the OL criticism. They have played very well aside from Tobin. They open up big holes but Coker doesn't hit them fast enough. They are playing great pass defense but when the other guys send 7 rushers, they can't do much. Imho, the TEs have been very bad blocking this year.

I would agree with this. You have to count on the RB to make one guy miss to have big success in the running game, and right now our RBs are not making guys miss.

I think of one play in particular in the first half when the left side of the line completely crushed the DL and set the corner, but Coker was tackled in space by the safety for a 2 yard gain. The defender cannot be accounted for by scheme, but you have to expect your back to make him miss, or at least run him over and fall forward for 5+ yards.
