Wow, good stuff guys. Steve's point about Iowa losing every meaningful game is eye opening. It's so true and so sad.

Couple of things- I believe when Nebraska gave the contract extention the buyout was also reduced by a substantial amount. So not as expensive to buy him out. Also, Pelini's demeanor is such that it is well known he is very hard to work for. He has a lot of trouble hiring assistants. Nebraska also is falling as the season is ending where Iowa is playing ther best ball.

Steve should come back to the sports station in Des Moines. Don't always agree with him but he is by far the most entertaining and talented personality the stations in Des Moines have had.

I love all the little tidbits you get from these podcasts. Never knew that running a Hawkeye website was Jon' main income source for a time and he was in Deace's basement when Iowa won a critical game that allowed Jon to provide for his family for another 6 months.

Also loved the story about Deace losing out on a big bonus because Iowa State lost to Kansas in 2005.

Same goes for when Jon talked in the past about Alford calling him into Carver for a "sit down" to ask who Jon's source was when he wrote about Alford poking around with the Missouri job.

Just neat little pieces of information you'd never hear outside these podcasts probably.
