Michigan

Not to derail the thread, but there is a rumor floating that Boyle is transferring. Anyone hear anything?

Oh, and Speight announced today that he will be a graduate transfer and is leaving Michigan. Probably a smart move when you look at what the QB competition will be next spring.
Hadn't heard that rumor yet but it'd make sense. It'd take a few dominos to fall for him to see the field at Iowa.

I believe McCaffrey is the main reason Martin when to UM.
Yeah I've kinda heard they made fast friends at a camp they went to. Time will tell how they do but will Michigan be patient enough for McCaffery? He might not play next year at all and everyone wants to win now now now. So if he don't play a snap for 2 yrs or so and has any growing pains at all....

Jimmy is 1-5 against his main rivals (OSU and MSU), hasn't even sniffed a division title (finished 3rd each of his 1st 2 years and 4th this year), and is 1-7 against Top 10 teams.

At some point, he's going to have to produce more than just beating up on lesser teams....

A huge factor was the fact that his sister already was enrolled there, and it made a lot of sense from a family standpoint.

Then, of course, the fact that KF has never recruited a WR that ended up catching a pass in the NFL, but I digress....

Did Riley McCarron get any? I know he had a cup of coffee with the Texans before getting cut. I haven't heard of anything since on him. Once he turned heads running a 4.33 40 during his pro day I figured he might catch on someplace and get used way more then what Iowa did with him.
It's just too bad Oliver went to Michigan. He'd have played this year for us. I believe he redshirted for them and most likely will get leapfrogged with the next great class of receivers they'll inevitably bring in.

I don't think Harbaugh is afraid of putting "his guy" in there and letting him learn on the fly. if McCaffrey is better than FR this season, Harbaugh will play him, probably.

He absolutely is afraid of doing that with younger players....how else do you explain Cream O'Corn getting a single snap ahead of Peters?

Not that I follow Michigan closely, but wasn't there rumblings that O'Korn would have started over Rudock were he eligible? He certainly wasn't as bad at Houston as he was this season.

No, he has no catches from what I can tell. I'm not sure he ever made the active regular season roster.

The only WR Kirk ever recruited over a 19 year career to even see the field in the regular season was Tevaun Smith. He played in 7 games but had no receptions.

Is wiegers close to graduating? I heard he is a biomedical engineering major, which is tough to graduate from in 4 years, even if you are not playing football.

My wife did it in 4 years, but she was a nerd. I can't imagine he could do it in four years playing football. That'd be crazy hard.

McCarron is still on the Patriots practice squad.

I know a lot of UM guys and the consensus is McCaffery is the real deal. And yes, I am sick of hearing about it.
Well I can assure you McCaffrey is a decent player having seem him in person 10-12 times in high school. However he is not even close to being a big ten QB yet, maybe in 2/3 years we will see. This is not Christian FYI, but a good football IQ with average arm strength

What about Kevin Kasper. I think he was a Fry recruit but played for KF his first year or two. He is as accomplished of a WR that's been in the pros as any since maybe Quinn Early and that's going back to the what mid/late 80s something like that.

I was only counting receivers that Kirk brought into the program. Like you stated, Kasper was a Fry recruit.
