I think Iowa will have an incredibly difficult time containing Nix and Ol' Man Green in this one. Appling has been superb in his sophomore season, as well - he's been fun to watch. MSU didn't play over the weekend, so they will have fresh legs and more time to prepare after going up to Madison and beating the Badgers.
I expect Michigan State to outrebound Iowa by at least 8-12 boards in this one. They'll go to Green early, Nix will clean up the boards and bunnies. And then you have Appling slashing/scoring with Wood picking up his share of points too.
The Breslin Center has been nasty to Iowa. The Hawkeyes were killed up there the year they were a #3 seed in the Tourney.
The last time Iowa won at East Lansing? 1993. They've won just twice in that building since it was put up in 1989. (2-18 all-time inside the Breslin Center).
Cartwright will need to be the Bryce that showed up in Madison, not the one that showed up the last few games. Marble can't get too hyped to play in his home state. Basabe just needs to get going. Post play could decide this and that scares me.
The TERRIFIC news is that Iowa only has to play the Spartans once this year (just the same as Ohio State) - that's a big break.
Michigan State 73, Iowa 57
