Michigan State Overview

Could anyone provide me with one? I don't get to watch other teams in the Big Ten much, and I missed last year's game. Thanks!

Here's a little bit of what I know about MSU. They're similar to Wisconsin except they like to sling it around more. The Spartans lead the Big10 in passing yards and Kirk Cousins leads the conference in passing efficiency. One of their running backs, Glenn Winston, is out with a season ending knee injury he suffered in the Illinois game a couple weeks ago. Their primary ball carrier will now be a true freshman running back named Larry Caper who could be an exciting player in the future and is capable of big plays. Blair White and BJ Cunningham are excellent pass catchers on the outside with touchdown receptions of 6 and 3 respectively. Throw in Mark Dell at WR and this is one of the most talented receiving groups in the conference.

On the defensive side, they have a stud at LB in Greg Jones who leads the nation in tackles. I don't know very much about the defense, but I have heard that sometimes they are overagressive and tend to leave cutback lanes that the running backs can take advantage of. The defense struggled in its first 3 games but have since settled down and limited mistakes.

Sparty also has a solid kicking game with Brett Swensen who has only missed one field goal this year.

I haven't watched a ton of their games but this is what i've seen and know. Should be a pretty good game, although, it looks like weather could be a factor again.

Good to see another Air Force fan here, too. I may be looking to you for info regarding the Falcons' opponents.

They are going to be tough this weekend! The hawks are going to have to play their best game of the year to come out of East Lansing with a W. Gonna need everyone playing at a high level saturday night. I hope the hawks can get up and come out of the gates firing on all cylinders and blow them out early!

Sounds good, sparrow. For everyone else, I encourage you to watch the Air Force-Utah game this weekend before the Hawks play. It's on VS network at 3:00, and last year's game was very close (30-23 Utah, but I believe AF was up at half). Another important game this weekend in the Mountain West, and nationally for that matter, is TCU-BYU in Provo. It'd be nice for Iowa if TCU gets knocked off, as it would essentially close the door on any hopes they have of playing in a BCS bowl.
