Michigan Kicker in motion???

Wow, it looked like the michigan kicker false started/in forward motion right after Va Tech had a TD call overturned and missed the FG. Really surprised the refs werent on that one.

Maybe Michigan's luck is coming back also??

He did the same thing earlier in the game too. Not sure if its legal or not but it wasn't his first time doing it tonight.

Really, I only watched the OT.

It should be a false start as even a wide receiver who moves forward ahead of the snap is illegal procedure/false start/illegal motion whatever you want to call it.

So he did it twice. Did he make the kick on the first one?

At first I thought the snap was made before he moved but two or three replays showed no way.

Either the refs thought the snap was made or they blew it.

Or got paid!! :)

He made all three attempts and "false started" on two of them. I have no idea if the rule is different for kickers. I wonder if he was just stopping his motion due to something with the snap/hold?

Exactly and Beamer looked p##sed off at it and the TD reversal although that didnt look like a catch on replay, full speed yes.

If anything tho you have to realize it hurts the kicker to stutter step so why would it be a penalty.

That (no) catch looked similar to Ed Hinkels one hander against Michigan. I thought the way his elbow was under the ball it was a completion. Man was i wrong.. oh well congrats Michigan on a great season. I wish we had Mr Mattison as our D coordiantor.

The first time he did it was on the fake / missed snap earlier in the game. On that play the holder picked up the ball and rolled out on what appeared to be a busted play. They made the first down when the holder threw the ball and it hit the Hokie in the helmet and the O-Lineman caught it.

I think something was off on either the snap count or the snap itself. The original fake FG did not look like a fake called by the staff...

Unless they fake it instead of kicking it, in which case he has a running head start toward the line of scrimmage. Or even if he kicks it, he can get an extra step back to get a little more into the kick on longer field goals.
