Hum missed bunnies, free throws, 3 pointers no second chances. Just don't get it. Best of luck Thursday and Sunday. Lets go Hawks

Rbreca played hard -- if he could make 100% of his layups it would help.
FTs horrible.
No way Hawks can win vs a good team when Murray, Perkins AND Sandfort have off shooting nights.
When you think about it, it's not all that surprising that Iowa's 3pt shooting has dropped off. Coming into this year, the only consistent 3pt shooter was Murray. Not Perkins, not Uhlis, not PMac, not Rbraca. So out of the starting 5, you have 1 proven 3pt shooter.
The Clones have no intention of letting Iowa get out of their current shooting slump.

Heck, they did a better job of guarding us last year than anyone when we DID have Keegan and JBo. We need to come out Thursday on our home floor and make a "not tonight" statement early. And we have to find another way if the threes aren't dropping. If we don't then it's on Fran.

While it is at Carver, with such a short turnaround, the only thing to do is rest and just focus on good form free-throws (60% vs Duke and 38 for 61 - 62% last 3 games - c'mon!) and quick pass 3-point shooting (19% vs Duke and 16 for 61 - 26% last 3 games - that's terrible!) Wednesday and Thurs am.

With Iowa's size disadvantage, their whole foundation for success is making throws and 3's. If you can't do those basics, expect more 8-12 pt losses against any decent team going forward.

You gotta win at something to win the scoring battle. Rebounds, shooting %, 3's, free throws, something. The main idea is placing the round ball through the metal ring, and this is the part where we struggle the most.

Our season really rest on Murray. So far he is not mentally tough enough to work to get open and score. He will see this intensity all year. He just seems to melt away instead of demanding his touches. Perkins acts like he doesn't care half the time and Sanford is red faced and cold just waiting to get in the game. Patrick simply has energy issues and so would any of us without our Thyroid. Love what Connor gives us.

Thru first few games (granted, lesser competition) I really gained some hope for a better than expected season because the offense seemed crisper and the throws / 3's were dropping. Last few games it's been atrocious with last nite being the turd on top of a shit sundae. Can't remember so many open / easy misses - and the air balls - wow! After a week off, it looked like they barely made it to NYC and the first shoot-around in MSG was pregame warmups. Hoping it's been an anomalous couple weeks and they can bounce back these next 4 home games.

If they (primarily Perkins and Sandfort) can get their shit together while Rebracca keeps battling and Kris + P-Mac just play their games, there's no reason they can't go 4-0 and extend that to 6-0 (at Neb and PennSt). Would do wonders for confidence and setting the tone for the rest of the season.

Absolutely can not lose both ISU and Wisky. Hoping for 5-1 and no worse than 4-2 before that Indy - Rutgers - Michigan - Maryland stretch.

Yes, drastic change in play when the competition level is upgraded. Hope we can muster some decent shooting tomorrow or we will see another blowout.

Yeah, I felt like last night was going to be a lot like the TCU game and it was. I did expect Murray and Perk to play better. They are non factors against teams with a pulse. I think they can get better and they are still adjusting to the role of "being the man" and the schedule doesn't allow quite the same development that last seasons provided.

If shots aren't falling early for this team, I wonder if the best offense wouldn't be to just isolate Murray on one side of the floor with the other 4 guys on the other side. Let him go one-on-one, and if the opponent brings help, THEN spread and with quick passes find the open man.

Rbreca especially has to improve his FT shooting. He's getting fouled and getting to the line. Nobody expects him to make 3s, nobody expects him to make 10 fters. All he's being asked to do is rebound, make layups, and make FTs. That's all he should spend his time practicing.

This team is nice not great, at least not yet. Fran needs to develop at least one of the centers. I'm not losing hope for a good season but they need to play more as a team and not a collection of players. Bowen might have to be starting soon as he is the only player that can play through physical play. Perkins is not the player he was last year, some are suggesting injury. Now there is talk that Kris is injured. Season could tank very early. That's the reason coaches don't always like a challenging schedule. Duke played well but Iowa had many opportunities to make it a game. Nobody stepped up. Iowa needs a leader.

Right, the Duke game was there for the taking. Nothing like the TCU game where we got manhandled in every single facet of the game. Game was taken from us in Florida, we gave it away in MSG.

We need an alpha. Kris may get there, but either the team didn’t look for him or he disappeared the first half. Second half I finally saw Kris being aggressive and asking for the ball.

My early observations:

We have another incomplete Fran Roster. Guys continue to play out of position....and the biggest glaring issue is at center this year. Rbreca is being asked to do things that he is not suited for against big bodies.

Our guard play is still lackluster, but Bowen has showed promise.

Our star player has not shown up in the big games and is allegedly hurt right now.

It is an undersized team....and if it can't hit shots it is going to be in trouble.

If this team gets clicking it will win some games.....best case scenario is a 1st or 2nd round exit in March. 7 to 11 seed type team.

Don't remember so many shots literally rolling off the rim so far this season

Physics and the law of averages demand that occasionally the ball will drip through the rim

The Lads are capable of good, solid D and will need it tonite

The clowns will be as inspired to beat the Hawks as they were to play Number One NC

We are going to have to force the issue on O and hopefully put them in foul trouble

The clown D on NC was incredibly INTENSE, and they had that goofy-looking guard nailing
almost every three, over and over again

Will always watch and cheer for the Hawks

The Lick years were a solid loyalty test

At some point the threes will fall, tonite would be a good start

Not going to be any easier against the badgers

This has been a BRUTAL pre-conference schedule

Murderers Row for certain

We do owe them for last year

What a difference 37 hours make. Let's Go Hawks. We can play without Murray?
At home, the great neutralizer for most college hoop teams. Good thing Iowa has a ton of those left. Gonna have to steal a few on the road and for that they’ll need Kris. This should help take some weight off KM and give his teammates tremendous confidence they can play without him.

I feel like an idiot. Never saw that game coming tonight. Who WAS that team, playing defense and nailing 3s??
Two questions:
1) why does it take both the women's and men's teams to play Iowa St. in order to defend? ; and
2) I wonder if Iowa has ever turned the ball over 15+ in a game and still won by 20?
