Meet Peyton Mansell

Enjoy this highlight vid of Mansell. I really enjoyed the music/editing with the video. Nice song for it.
The guy has a bit of a funky arm motion but has worked on it to shorten it up which is good. Still has a little movement to it but he seems to read and react pretty well which makes up for it. The guy's a gamer and I like his confidence. I also like the zip on certain balls he throws when he has to get it in there. He knows when to fire it in and when to put a little air under it. He sees a guy open and he lets it go. I also think he anticipates receivers getting separation as well but will see if this is the same at the college level.

Reminds me a bit of some of the recent Northwestern QBs ... versatile and tough. Recent practice pics with QB read options might be interesting to see with both Mansell and Boyle down the road.

I hope your right because we need him more at WR and on the field, but some recent pics he was at QB.

He prob should at this point. I'd hate to have his athleticism and talents sit on the bench never reaping the benefits he could offer. He and Nick E. could be two slot guys like a Wes Welker.

Much as he'd like to play (and looks to have great potential) would be nice to keep the redshirt on him this year. (Have to believe Stanley/Weigers will be ready by game time) Looks like we'll be in pretty good shape at QB for the foreseeable future.

Last I heard he was QB again... 3rd string unless Mansell passed him the second he got there. He seems to be the forgotten man without a home. I wonder if safety is a positon he could play. He's already tried WR and didn't climb the depth chart there even when it was pretty weak. I kinda like the thought of an athletic guy like him at QB but he's gotta earn it

No young freshmen WR's picked up GD's offense. Supposedly it was very complex. I could have sworn it was just 3 yard out patterns or anything short of a first down.

Two words came to mind when I saw that tape: Brad Banks.

You know damn well you will see this kid pull a zone read and take off when he ascends to the starting position. I think he shirts this year...and he got a few years to wait under Stanley...but this kid's a football player.

He's got the classic QB name and PLENTY of arm strength...plus the kid's GOT WHEELS!
Redshirt makes a ton of sense to me.

Impressive. Funny thing was I was really impressed by how well coached his team was. The down field blocking was spectacular at times (1:30 in video) and where is number 7 today? I noticed in the "practice observations" thread pictures he was running the read option w/ Butler. Butler will only be here for this season. Makes you wonder why they would spend time on that...

I also wondered about that #7. He looked good. Wonder where he ended up playing WR in college?
