McQueary stopped incident & called/talked to police.

On the contrary, this makes JoePa look a lot better. 99% of the outcry has been because nobody from PSU called the police. If indeed McQueary called the police there would have been no need for Paterno to also call the police.

I'm not sure why he'd let his and Paterno's name get drug through the mud if this is true.

this doesn't clear Paterno. Paterno is running the show at PSU, not McQueary. You have multiple shower situations, he is your coach, there is enough to fire him in '99.

Paterno himself said he wasn't involved with the Police, he simply told his boss.

Look what happened when the high school coaches, who spotted Sandusky with kids in the weight room, called the police. Led to an investigation and grand jury, and you have what we have here now, Would have been the same result had they called police back in the day.

This is after the fact CYA.

He testified that he went to his office, called his daddy, and his daddy told him to get out of there. Then he testified that he reported it to Paterno the next day. I doubt they would just "leave out" information about the police being called about a crime.

Heeeeereeee we go....the rats all turning on each other to protect their @$$.

How does him saying he called the police mean that he's turning on anyone?

I'm not sure I believe him but if what he says is true this basically exonerates Paterno, at least in terms of the 2002 case.

Which is exactly why I think he's changing his tune.

Paterno has miles of up hill crap to climb before he is even remotely close to being exonerated. He must explain the reason for keeping a child rapest on his facilities.

Paterno is not even close to being off the hook.

If the police investigated and found no wrongdoing, then there would be no reason to keep him out of the facilities.

Anyway, like I said, it seems quite a bit strange that he's just now coming out with this new information. It's not hard to prove whether he's telling the truth though so we'll find out eventually.

Sounds like this was a non-interview.

Also, if you're in McQueary's shoes right now, how does it take you more than a week to defend yourself? Why are you not out there screaming at the top of your lungs?

This does not compute.

Because you're an employee of the university and being told not to talk. And because your personal attorney is telling you the same thing. And wisely so.

The "interview" was a brief no-comment encounter on his porch. CBS should be embarrassed for promoting this. Finally, the just-disclosed email was sent to friends and former teammates a week ago, on 11/8. See McQueary Penn State scandal: Mike McQueary says he did go to police - mcall.com

In the email obtained by The Morning Call, McQueary wrote that he "did have discussions with police and with the official at the university in charge of police" following the alleged incident involving Sandusky, a former Penn State assistant coach, and a boy. McQueary also wrote that he "is getting hammered for handling this the right way or what I thought at the time was right."

actually Joe Paterno is not donig a thing about it, if he was told about and he told the AD,
Sandusky was still his DC at the time, even a stupid person could and should have realized something was wrong,
he had the power to suspend this monster but didn't
sorry but Joe Pa is up to his ears in this cover up
McCready was just a GRAD ASSISTANT at the time and yeah there are FOUR types of police involved, CAMPUS POLICE, CITY POLICE, SHERRIFFS DEPT. AND THE STATE POLICE
the way things are going, considering who has been fired, it would not surprise me if the Campus Police were involved

You're entire post is full of false information. Sandusky was done in 1999. PSU still allows him on campus with an office and access to football facilities as part of his retirement, no longer has anything to do with JoePa....incident in question was from 2002. 3 years after Paterno is no longer in anyway his boss.

If McQueary went to the police...Paterno should have never been fired, period. Why would he go to the police if he was notified of the incident and McQueary had already done so?

There is so much speculation - some thing we can gather rationally, but the bravado and chest pounding about everything people "say they would do" makes me chuckle.

In my mind however - the clearly knew Sandusky was a problem. They weren't protecting him either, they were protecting themselves.

People that hardly knew Sandusky could tell he was creepy around kids.

You think people who worked for him for years didnt know?

Hard for me to believe. They were embarassed and worried about the program so they tried to bury it.
