Donovan McNabb expected to be dealt to Vikings later today. But as of this morning, Redskins and McNabb's agent both say no deal yet.

Looks like its pretty much a done deal now.

Good move for the Vikings. Gives them a chance to win this year and not throw their rookie QB to the wolves.

Yup gotta agree. Probably end up only being one 6th rounder as the other is conditional. Now need to lock up Sidney Rice.

Now they can get six wins! Pack will still dominate the division with detroit being second.

Getting Rice back is huge. McNabb needs some weapons to be successful in Minny...along with some better line play than last year. Either way, he should be more mobile than Favre was.

"Still dominate" implies you dominated it before.

You won the Super Bowl, yes. But you didn't win your division.

Should be a tough division this year.

Excited for some NFL action.. not nearly as excited as CFB.. but excited nonetheless.

I agree signing Sid is huge (although he's been healthy for 1 year in his career) but Mcnabb has done more with less help than AP, Harvin and Shiancoe.

Of course he was about 8 years younger.

according to who? He was terrible last year.

Thats what I'm saying. I don't see why anyone really gets worked up about this. He was awful and sports media didn't act like he was bad at all. He's always been an average to a-tad-above-average qb. I don't understand the love for him, even when he was in Philly.

Pretty much everyone is reporting that he sucked last year. Vikings fans are getting worked up because Joe Webb was slotted to be the starting QB. McNabb has not been an "average to a-tad-above-average qb" throughout his career, that's just silly.

He really has though. He had a good 5 year run in there but after that what has he done? Looking back on his career he won what made 4 NFC title games and lost a super bowl? His accomplishments are by no means great.

I'd agree, just reviewed his stats. I definitely wouldn't call him average though. He has had a few great years.

File under "should have done this 2 years ago".

Reminds me of Jeff Garcia when the Buccaneers finally signed him but he was about 90 years old by then.

This I agree with. I think he can be a good fit for Minny but I'm not sure if he puts them over the edge. With his age and all he may not be the best choice but bringing him in to give Ponder a year to sit and learn is definitely a better option than throwing Ponder out in the wild.

Right, I don't think anyone is expecting this to make Minnesota a contender this year. I'm just glad we don't have to throw Ponder to the wolves.

It makes us better this year and for the future. Hopefully it's enough to keep sidney rice as well.

Before the deal I figured Rice would walk, but now I'm thinking he'll stay. I think you Minnesota fans have a lot to look forward to, lots of pieces to the puzzle. As long as you don't give up too much for McNabb I think it works out well. Besides its better than seeing #4 behind center. :D

Gave up 1 6th rounder and another 6th the following year if he makes the team next year.

We've got some contract issues coming up in the following year. Greenway and AP both need to get new contract.
