McCall... what gives?

This whole thing has been so weird. I can not believe there is Nothing as to what happened. Has any of the media contacted him? Any friends out there? Anybody who lives on the same floor as the kid? Family?

What happened?

Good question. One can only speculate that after getting benched after the Purdue fumble, he might have been a little testy. The timing is odd, as it was the following week he was suspended, correct?

+1 He seemed to have great promise and upside. Of course, when KF gets his starter (Coker), he runs him to death and NO one else gets any carries (most teams give the starters 'blows' throughout the game, to keep starter's legs fresh--KF considers giving any starters any 'blows' through any game to be a sign of weakness, so he runs the starters til their legs fall off, so we are worthless most 4th qtrs).

My theory is Mccall is a beast, and knows it, and knows he has NO CHANCE of ever seeing field until COKER graduates, so, having half a brain, he is out of here! Smart move by him

i doubt this.

and, btw, who was the starter in the '09 season?

McCall is a pre-madonna who didn't get his way. He played early on when Iowa was struggling and came in strong. But he got injured and sat out 6-7 weeks.

I am sorry but no coach will bring a player off an injury and put him right away. The kid needs to prove he is healthy and ready to go. Sadly McCall first carry since the injury he fumbled into the opponents teams hands.

You screw up, you work harder in practice and show the coaches you learned from your mistake. You don't post on FB or Twitter how upset you are. You shut your mouth and go back to work.

We know he was suspended after Purdue through the bowl so something happened that was fairly serious.

You don't get suspended for simply being unhappy with PT or being a primadona. If that was the case DJK would have been suspended constantly.

If it was for something stupid like face book, McCall would have already come out and said as much. If it was academic we would probably have know too.

It is something that the player himself is obviously not eager to reveal so that should tell you that it is something that does not reflect well on him. We also know he moved out of his dorm shortly after the suspension.

Either way, it really sucks because he looked to be the total package as a back and you have to think the injury probably played into his downfall mentally.

Very unfortunate.

And for those who think he isn't a huge loss. Think about this.

We have never seen Kirk Ferentz put in a true freshman that early in his career over more experienced players ever at any position. Not Shonn Greene not Adrian Clayborn not not even Bob Sanders.

Granted there wasn't a ton in front of him but Jason White is at least as good as Paki Omera. McCall was a special talent.

Sorry guys. I was sleeping on the job.. I'll get that "AIRBHG" bastard.

Ps. Not to be grammar police, but I just want to point out it's "prima donna" before some other poster rags on you about it, and calls you names.

Thanks, I freely admit to being an awful speller.

i don't believe KF had too many choices as to who played after Coker
the most likely canidate to get carries before a freshmen was Rodgers
and he was not cleared till later in the season, if healthy he could and would have been used as a H-back
also if anybody would have gotten carries other than Coker it would have been a healthy Rodgers, not some Freshman
McCall is gone because he didn't want to man up plain and simple

I believe he said it exactly how it was intended, as Madonna became a household name in the mid 80s and McCall is acting like a d0uche from back in those days before she hit it big.

Im pretty sure he could have played the senior listed as the #2 back, Jason White.

I think TheInsideSource was referring to this one, RocknRollface...

There are some awful ridiculous theories floating around here, many are LOL funny.

The fact is McCall broke the Iowa student code of conduct. Without going into detail about the nature of the violation it is safe to say it was a fairly serious issue. He decided it was in his best interest to try and start over elsewhere, and I think its safe to say that feeling was mutual from a U of I standpoint (not talking about KF here).

I'm not saying he wasn't unhappy with his PT or all the coaches here, but I am saying that had virtually nothing to do with why he left.

Believe me, or don't, I don't give a ****.

I thought Kirk suspended McCall for a violation of team rules and Coker was suspended by Mason and Barrage for a violation of student athlete code of conduct.
