McCaffrey boys blue chippers

UCLA fans seem to want Alford fired, in part because he plays his son a lot. Sure hope Fran's sons are legit.

This is always a concern, however Alford is an egomaniac. I don't see fran being like that. Fran will probably get on his sons more and really make them earn their playing time. Plus fran ball is more about playing your role rather than hero ball

The best line I ever heard was by the Denver, IA boys basketball coach (can't recall his name now - it was over 30 years ago) when I worked the Wartburg basketball camp. He said "If your son is on the team you coach you better hope he's either really bad or really good because anything in between and you'll be second guessed by all the armchair coaches in town."

I then asked him, "So is your son really good or really bad?"

He then said, "He is a really good ........... wrestler!"

Both will be great Hawkeyes and both will be tall guards like their dad. A couple 6'-6" guards. Connor is #91 overall in his class and Patrick I think is still top 50.

I want to see fran do this to one of his own kids

I want to see his kids look like they give a damn if he does.

I was just thinking... I hope his kids play with the same fire he coaches with. I love the current Hawks team, even with the recent collapse, and I'm still proud of the season they've put together. Attitude is the one thing I'd change if I could. Woodbury is really the only player who plays with an edge, and he's pretty much non-existent on the offensive end of the court. This passive aggressive demeanor that several of the them play with annoys the **** out of a competitive guy like myself.

So just like NikeHawk1

Who's NikeHawk1? Show some respect.

How is one supposed to form opinions on incoming recruits? I prefer to look at recruiting sites (247 & Rivals are my favorites) to check rankings, scouting reports and, other offers. Then I watch youtube highlights to see a players skill set against competition. In this case I took a third step and asked people who may actually have seen him play in person, their thoughts.

That's a great line. I used to have problems with parents and then I fixed it up front. Every year I held a meeting before the 1st practice and attendance was mandatory for each player and 1 of their parents/guardians. Expectations, playing time, etc. were all very clear by the time everyone went home...never had a problem with a parent or player again.

Patricks mixtape just came out. Looks promising considering he's only a Freshman in High school

I've seen Patrick play in multiple tournaments. And he's no doubt a man amongst boys with kids his same age. I think his mixtape was also with freshman players. I'd like to see what he can do with kids older, even sophomores. He has a really nice skill set when it comes to the basics. He can score deep, on the dribble, and at the block. His passing is really good as well. If he puts on the weight necessary to play at the Big level I think we'll all be happy.

Never had the chance to see Connor play much but will check him out this week during the State Basketball tourney at Wells Fargo.
