Scout.com: McCabe Plans to Lead

From article:

"People talk about us having depth and talent," McCabe said. "But we need effort and hard work to be an NCAA team and carry on beyond that."

"I feel like I'll be the same lunch-pail guy night in and night out," the 6-foot-7, 235-pound McCabe said. "I've learned a lot more stuff that can help me this year like footwork and defensively. I learned a lot of moves when I was down in Europe. I just learned that I have to be more creative with my game to be successful in the long run."

I know McCabe's talked about a lot in Hawkeye circles but nationwide and even around the B1G, it's White and Marble that get the attention. McCabe will be the secret weapon for Iowa if the team does better than expected- whether he starts or not.

McCabe is 200% correct when he says "People talk about us having depth and talent but we need effort and hard work to be an NCAA team....". I'm kinda sick about reading how "highly rated" our freshman class is, or how "highly rated" a certain player is, or how "highly recruited" a kid is. It's all about working hard and making the "potential" turn into production and reality at the D1 level. Nobody can ever question McCabe's effort and attitude night in and night out nor his overall toughness. Let's hope it's contagious.

Zach is saying all the right things here....good for him. He is a true lunch bucket worker player that good teams always have...and can shoot from the arc to boot. He will be very important to the success of this program the next two years....the Irish Brawler...my pet name for him.

Hadn't heard that Zach had a European "experience" That's great news and I like what he has said about his summer and the up-coming year.
