Maybe ISU will be a legit P5 opponent

After last week's shocker and now up 31-0 on a lowly Kansas team that ISU usually has problems beating there might be an actual change in Ames. Maybe if ISU gets decent the Hawk coaches will have to open things up a bit or at least add some wrinkles and play some more young players sooner to show recruits they can play more, earlier at Iowa.

This might make a few of you wake up but maybe ISU will start being the favorite in this series more than not.

I watched the game, Kansas may well be the worst college team I have ever seen. But I thought I heard the announcers say the clowns had 19 seniors playing. Soupy should bail at the first opportunity.

The problem they will always have in Lames is if they do become legit ... Campbell gets offers elsewhere, leaves for greener pastures, and they start the coaching merry-go-round once again.

Yes, I should know this after watching Majors and Bruce bail the first chance they got.

But if campbell has a couple of good years would ISU give him big time money to stay? that is always a problem in Ames where their team can turn to crap in one years time.

I hope not. I'd rather they stay a bottom feeder. Easier to get the state's top kids in recruiting if they suck much of the time.

Like it or not, agree or not, ISU is a decent team. And frankly, we want that. The better they look, the better this year's win over them looks.

I just can't get with this thought process. Beating a 5-7 ISU team does what for Iowa? It is not the difference between the Music city bowl and Tax slayer bowl. It doesn't change the national perspective of what people think of Iowa. All it does is make their fan base more annoying.

I think he's saying beating a 7-5 or better isu team is better than a 5-7 or worse team. And, God forbid, losing to a 7-5 or better team, perception wise, is better than losing to a 5-7 or worse isu team.

Regardless, win the game.

I get what you are saying, i just don't think it matters unless Iowa is in playoff contention. Which is is about once a decade.

I think you're missing the point. Some of us would like to have an OOC with 2 cupcakes instead of 3. Sports = entertainment. Entertainment value goes up when opponent is legit.

even if ISU starts winning more games then they lose they'll always have the stink of ISU on them and will be forever considered a joke program in football

All Iowa has to do is win out and Wisconsin needs to drop a game, any game. Iowa then owns the head to head and off to Indy they go. Possible? Yes, likely? No.

We are looking at an inexperienced, but talented, team. Can they capitalize on the experience gained thus far? The coaches should use this bye week to perform a top to bottom examination of the team to this point in the season and make the required adjustments. Create a punch list and work through it. Should be simple stuff for those who know the game.

I get the point. I am not heart broken if ISU went off the schedule. If iowa is 8-4, it doesn't matter if ISU is 4-8 or 6-6.

I want the Clowns to be just good enough that some better program comes along and makes Matty Cumball an offer he can’t refuse, and then their dill weed of an AD is left hiring a HC, once again setting Clown Football back in talent and consistency. Lames has always been a coaching graveyard. Either that or it is the place you wanted to be from, not at.

This would make more sense is ISU played like a cupcake when they played us. Unfortunately, even when they're horrible, we get to watch a "good game".

KU is truly awful. Didn’t make it past the 35 yard line on their first 15 possessions. Think about that.
