Maurice Washington practicing

So today is Nebraska day on BTN and I’m reminded of the whole Maurice Washington deal.

I hate Nebraska, but this whole thing with Washington is really a sham. He’s playing/practicing while awaiting a court date sept 3rd, according to BTN. All the Nebraska media (as usual) are giving frost and the program a pass.

I get the whole rush to judgement thing like with what happened to cephus as Wisconsin, but this is a more objective crime. Passing around videos of underage girls as revenge?

Is he going to actually get to play first weekend?

Oh yeah, I hate Nebraska

That is the Nebraska way. I mean, beat the hell out of your girlfriend and drag her down the stairs by her hair, and then we will see you in the Orange Bowl. Frost learned from the best.... err, worst. Father Tom my ass......

If all this would have happened in Nebraska the charges would be dropped by now. The fact that he is being charged in California on child porn (one felony charge and one misdemeanor) is probably much more dire for him. Some states will put you on the sex offender list for just pissing in the woods on a golf course and this is way more serious than that.

The Omaha World Herald actually did a pretty good job of reporting the entire timeline of what has happened.

EXACTLY.
I did see after the state changed their pot laws (told you they would), they dropped the pot charges against all the players.
Which I'm ok with. A little pot, or a pipe is about the same as your reference to pissing in the woods. It's kind of ridiculous and really diminishes those who really do need to be on it and thus those that the public really does need to be aware of.

C. Peter was arrested 8 times and accused of sexual assault 4 times at Nebraska. I just googled it. He amazingly never went to prison and I don't think he missed a game either. There was also the thing with Tommy Armpunt, LP, the 4 marijuana guys and now Washington. It all adds up. Probably a bunch of other incidents don't even know about.

Future cons only get two choices in Nebraska, Boys town or the Nebby football team! Matter of fact I think that's where they recruit most of the kids at.

The tommy Armstrong thing was even made more ridiculous because he he so horrible as a QB. Nebraska should have learned by now, protect your good players, punish your crappy players.

Must be nice to have the police on your side, unlike Iowa City.

If these are the things the players are getting busted for, you know for a fact there are a lot of things they're getting away with.

Also, Nebraska fans act like they despise Lawrence Phillips...yet have zero issues fondly remembering the '94 national title. They just don't care

They didn't change their "pot" laws, they enacted a HEMP law for limited agricultural production and the prosecutor in Lancaster county used it as one of the many "gotta keep our guys on the field" excuses. Hemp and "pot" are not the same thing, but Nebraskans are too dumb to know the difference. The guy claimed they had no way to test if the stuff was above .3% THC. So how did you do it before, moron? Actually the prosecutor in Douglas county(Omaha) admitted you could get these guys on a couple different charges, but they're in Lincoln, so they're basically untouchable unless they murder someone.

You are correct. Plus they are trying to get a medical mj law passed.
My point is that you knew they were never going to prosecute that many football players.
Like I said a little pot isn't any big deal in my eyes. It was put here for a reason.
They need to crack down on the meth and people who are daily users. Except maybe cancer patients.
I'm also of the belief that pissing in the woods shouldn't land you on the sex offenders list, because it distracts from those who really do need to be on it and people the public needs to be aware of.
But I also believe child molesters should face a longer sentence. People doing lesser crimes should face a lesser fine. Because it's pretty fucking bad when s person who gets an owi gets a punishment and be inconvenienced for as long if not longer than a child molester. So don't give me this mother's against drunk driving bull shit. That's just an axe to grind and has absolutely nothing to do with children.
But what's really sad? The lawyers, judges and lawmakers are basically saying having 4-5 beers and driving is almost as bad as a child molester. I don't care how you slice it, that's some bs.
Same as a 1/4 bag of pot compared to a pound. Or a joint compared to bag of meth.
Jesus.

I'd rather continue to support law enforcement and a program that "doesn't have the police on their side". I'd be embarrassed (by something other than the current state of the program) if I was a Nebraska fan, but I guess it goes hand in hand.

I’d support law enforcement, but ticketing wirfs for being in a sports bar sober after 10 is a travesty. It leads me to think that if perhaps wirfs was a 5’10” 170 lb white male it wouldn’t have happened.

It doesn't make s difference if he stands out or blends in, that was bs. All the cop had to say is "I'll be back through in an hour, so...."

Yes, that is ridiculous. When I see someone on that list I want to know if they are a real predator or not.

Thats a tough one. Both are really bad, of course. Drunk drivers have ended and ruined plenty of lives, too. I can see your point though, if you consider that a molester is completely intentional, while a drunk driver is more about stupidity and negligence.

It's perfectly allowed to support law enforcement while also criticizing some of their misdeeds. The two things aren't mutually exclusive ya know.

The thing with an owi is yes it has hurt people. A percentage of people.
Where child abuse hurts them 100% of the time.
Isn't that the way the law works?
A manufacturer only does a recall if it hurts or kills enough people.
An award in court is based on damages, not could have been damages.
That's my bases on pot. It actually helps some. It's less harmful then drinking to much, to often.
I'm not suggesting things be ignored or make light of. I'm just saying there is a bunch of axe grinding in people as well as the laws and unfortunately in that state of mind, common sense does not prevail.
