Unless Gronowski gets hurt in camp (and maybe not even then), Sullivan has taken his last snap in an Iowa uniform.

I agree with Rob and Doch's thinking, but I think this statement at the end of your post is an overstatement. Even if Grownoski is the anointed starter and that fact is made plain to Sully, he would be wise to stay. The starter can get a serious injury, for sure. That happens in a lot of programs every year. But, beyond that, there a less serious injury scenario where there are spot duties, or the starter loses his helmet, or mop up duty or packages for the back up. All of those things are possible for the back-up and that gets you on the field.

It seems clear enough that if Sully stays, he is highly likely to be the #2 guy all year long. Just like Sully cannot go anywhere decent and be guaranteed the starting gig, he also can't go anywhere and be guaranteed he would be the backup. If he transfers over the Summer, shows up in Fall camp, he may end up being #3, as a guy with no more eligibility, and never see the field.

He seems like a bright kid. Staying at Iowa is by far the best move he can make.

"Some info comes to light why the Gronowski signing took so long. He will have surgery (unconfirmed what kind, but believed to be shoulder-related), and will be out until June. He will be unable to participate in Spring practice."

Sorry- i have no listed source, so hopefully my buddy is misinformed!

Might do people’s mental health well to remember that everyone got uber hyped about McNamara and we all know how that turned out. And CM had P4 experience.

Gronowski’s good, but FCS ain’t FBS, folks. He did all the awesome things he’s done against defensive players who weren’t good enough to play P4 football, and every defense he's ever beaten would go 0-fer in the Big Ten by a country mile. That doesn’t make him Carson Wentz.

Good points. I have to temper my own Hawktimism at times. He seems like he'll be the starter, so that means he's prolly pretty good. I don't expect him to be Carson Wentz, who ironically, played at an FCS school.
