The great Yankees closer's career is likely over after an injury in practice today. As a long time fan of Mo, this is truly sad news.

you are in rivera's family?
i hope this doesn't end his career - if he wants to come back, certainly he could. his numbers are still phenomenal.
What was Mo thinking? What was Yankee management thinking?

Great Mo story. My 9 year old son and I were at a KC Royals game couple years ago on opening day. We were there way early and my son had two balls and was hoping for some Yankee autographs. They were all stretching and my son was waving to them and they were waving back. Well they then went on to BP and Mo was walking to the outfield to shag balls...and as he was walking by all the kids and adults were yelling MO, MO, MO...I told my son to yell Mr. Rivera...he did over and over again. As he went by us he walked up to my son and said in his accent...I will be back. After BP he walked to Yankee dugout and I thought what a SOB he didn't come back. About 5 minutes later he comes out and starts walking back to us...I could tell he was looking. So Matt started yelling Mr. Rivera...he walked right over to my son and said...you are a very respectable young man...that is very good. He signed a ball for him and me...and walked away! CLASS MAN...and my son learned a valuable lesson about respect for your elders.
He has done this from day one....freak accident. His dream was to have Girardi let him play CF for one inning before he retires.

Just to clarify, he signed a ball for the youngster and one for you?
