Margin for error

After thinking about the season, I don't want coaches fired or bowl invites declined. That's just "heat of the moment" type thinking. There is one thing I believe the coaches need to evaluate and that's why the margin for error on their teams is so razor thin all the time.

Year after year, 18-23 year-olds are put in a position to have to execute flawlessly in order to win consistently. That just doesn't happen with young kids like that without a bunch of luck...like the 2009 season. Sure we lost by 3pts or less in a few games this year, but that "L" counts the same as a blowout. Wisconsin has figured out how to take a pro-style offense and win decisively. It can be done. They aren't putting undo pressure on their defense. Lots of people are calling our defense bad, but they had their backs against the wall too many times because the offense couldn't get 1st downs. In a ball control offense, that's not good.
