Margaret McCaffery

Great article. Thanks for posting. Margaret will be a tremendous asset in marketing the basketball program, both internally and externally.

Also, as I have said before, I don't believe Iowa would have landed Fran without Margaret. As a Dad of two small kids whose career keeps him away from home a lot, I know how important it is to have maternal grandparents close. Other than ND, Fran has no connections to the Midwest and would likely have gone to St. John's, Boston College or wait for another Eastern school if his wife's parents did not live in the Midwest.

What is interesting is I don't remember ever seeing Mrs. Lickliter or anything ever written about her. Was he really married?

Excuse me...In the past 2 weeks the sports papers have published numerous articles about Mrs. McCaffery.

In the past 3 years the sports papers have published few if any articles about Mrs. Lickliter.

That was my point...I am well aware of Google. I sorry I had to spell it out for you. Also, In 3 years this is the first time I have ever heard she was a pharmacist...hmmm. And here I thought she was this Jewish wife that stayed at home wanting to cook big meals just waiting for the ballplayers to come over. Guess she didn't have time...
