Marco Lainez Commits to Iowa Football

Think so?

I don’t see it but maybe I’m wrong. He’s been quoted as saying he didn’t grow up with an allegiance to the Hawks, and I just struggle to think he’d pass up a shot at Alabama/Georgia/OSU. Maybe Nwankpa is an influence…I don’t know.
Really, that’s my hope. He was at the Penn State game I believe, here’s to hoping we have a solid season next year to maybe push him over the finish line.

I hope so too. From reading some of his comments, he doesn't sound like an Iowa lean or anything. A solid season and the fact that we have a good track record of getting O-Linemen not only to the NFL but some pretty high draft choices at that.

What makes this a great get? Would prefer dual threat capabilities.
Did you watch his highlights? He ran 50% of the time, he had like 450 yards his junior year. Looks very mobile and throws a lot on the run. Looks to have average arm strength.

High school stats are pretty sketchy when looking at them for college potential.

A LOT of high schools play full schedules of horrible football teams. It's not like basketball where D1 recruits are usually playing on and against against elite level AAU teams.

Like SE Valley where Graves comes from. Obviously not taking anything away from him because the kid is an absolute monster, but they play in a garbage conference and district other than Odebolt Arthur, and they never play any competition until they get to state. It's easier to look like Reggie White playing there than it would be against a bunch of 4A private schools.

I'm not sure how this applies to Lainez. The Hun school plays in the Mid-Atlantic Prep league.

A 225 lb duel threat QB is eye bow raising. I'm fired up to be getting a couple highly thought of QBs to the room. With May coming in now and this kid the next yr it's a great thing. Compared to what we have going currently at least the staff is landing QBs lots of other solid programs would liked to have had too. Let them compete and best man win

Dunno, Adrian Martinez was 220 and a pretty good threat to run the ball, just wasnt good at passing. Sorry, can't tell by your post if you're skeptical or excited about him being dual threat.

Oh I'm excited. What I like about the guys that are closer to 220 then 200 in regards to running is they can run the QB sneaks strait ahead better and push the pile. Plus they can take more hits theoretically. But we sure as hell don't want to beat em up like NE did to Martinez. Talk about damaged goods. I'm half surprised he isn't done with football with how he's been beat up. He's a tough dude.
