I am a proud Iowa alumnus and rabid Hawk fan who just started grad school at Boston College this semester. As a preferred way of associating with my new institution, I attended the BC-Florida State game last night. The game was an awful drubbing; I certainly won't get accused of bandwagon-jumping. There was, though, one thing I really liked about the game atmosphere at BC:
During most TV timeouts, instead of blaring recorded music over the PA, the BC marching band played. I know this issue (as it pertains to Kinnick) has been talked about before on the board a little bit, but BC has a little twist. The band here is mic'd up and itself played through the PA. The increased amplitude, I feel, gave the band's music an edge (esp. in percussion) that really filled the stadium more than the Hawkeye Marching Band, and it just had a better CFB feel than having having the actual radio versions of the songs played.
If feasible, and workable in Kinnick as a matter of acoustics, would you like to see/hear the Hawkeye Marching Band get mic'd up and play more at Iowa home games?
