The beginning of the complete collapse of Iowa men's basketball started 7 years ago, today. By twice losing double digit leads and ultimately the game, those of us who are Hawkeye fans said goodbye to the NCAA tournament for what so far is a 6 year, 364 day drought. I remember it so vividly as St. Patrick's day is also my birthday, so obviously there was some early celebrating and basketball watching going on. The kick to the gut feeling that accompanied the final NWS shot go through was followed by a few more years of body blows. Finally the hawks are back on the cusp. Be a great birthday gift if they get in, but it is so awesome to be in the conversation again. We've been wandering the desert of insignificance for too too long.
