Marble trying to dig in on 'D'

Good read on Marble. Here's a segment:

To be fair, Marble wears many hats for the Hawkeyes, perhaps more than anybody this side of senior Matt Gatens.
One night, he's asked to go get 15 points. The next night, run the offense and feed teammates. Now go guard somebody on the wing, and play 36 minutes while you're at it.

"That's hard to do," McCaffery conceded.
Marble won't use the heightened responsibilities as a crutch.

"I wouldn't blame it on offense. But it is something that's still a work in progress," Marble said. "I have the potential to be a really good defender. At times, I lapse, and other times, I can defend anybody in the country.

"For me, it's just getting into that mentality to dig in for 40 minutes and limit those mental lapses as much as possible."

Fran continues to tell it as he sees it and to the players credit they seem to genuinely embrace it.

Iowa's Marble trying to dig in on 'D'

This article was updated today. From article:

"He's almost 6-7 as a guard, so he gets his shot off easy," McCaffery said. "He can finish with either hand. He's dunking the ball going down the lane now. He's becoming more and more explosive as he gets stronger, as he matures. He's got the total package.

"When he's not playing good defense, it's because he's just not playing defense, not because he can't"
