Marble is back and playing

Marble improved all season long, lets hope he continues this success. Our whole team improved as individual players, and I think the future is bright for Iowa basketball.

experience can lead to more wins as they have been thru this before. and my point takes into account players that are new to the program and their teammates go thru the motions of making sure a player is where he is supposed to be, with experience the players are used to each other, they also know their teammates strengths and weaknesses, so they can react on instinct rather than thinking about it. which can make the difference between when and to who to make the pass

Marble is my favorite player.

He is smooth, has a nice stop and shoot off the dribble, and plays excellent D.

He will be the best player in his class when this is all said and done.

Exactly, WestCoast.....

He also has the ability to create his own shot, nobody knows what he is going to do with the ball. Always has reminded me of Jake Kelley.....

We would not have won the Purdue game without Devyn.....

:)

i have alway maintained that the majority judge peoples ability off of the Wins and Losses, Cartwright as a 1st year player for Iowa avg's dbl figures in scoring and led the BT in assists, but people call him a avg at best pg; Gatens as led the Team in scoring all 3 years and yet all i see is people putting him down. also saying he is a mediocre player.

sorry but mediocre players do not lead teams in scoring one year let alone 3, you people do realize coaching and experience can and does lead to more victories

i have predicted 20 wins this season and stand by that # of victories; my self i look past the stars or lack of and look at what we have not had for a few years;

1. we have all the players that played last year back, that didn't graduate
2. we have 4 seniors
3. we have 3 players than earned All BT Freshmen team honors
4. going into this season we have one player selected to the preseason BT 2nd team

now can anyone tell me which Iowa team has had that kind of returning lineup back, i remember Dr, Tom winning games that on paper they should not have, even Alford did it

We are going to need both Marble and May. I don't care who starts. They both will play a key role. Marble has to play big offensively, and May has to rebound and defend.

Can't wait for the season to start

Marble shot about 5.5 times a game, playing just over 19 minutes a game. That isn't much of a chucker.

But I'd rather have an over aggressive guy like Marble, than a timid guy like May.

That stat doesn't indicate how much he touches the ball. It's possible that when he touches it it goes up but he just doesn't touch the ball often thus creating the perception of a chucker.

if a player put the ball in the air as you put it it ussually is counted as a shot, and like i said 1 shot every 3 minutes is not what i call a chucker, especially with a shot clock

For the most part when Marble ran the point he looked to setup the offense and proved to be one of the few who could actually feed the post. While playing the wing he was often one of only two real scoring threats so the staff asked him to carry the offense on at least two occasions so again I would say he played within the offense.

A percentage of shots per touches would tell you more than shots in a certain amount of time. He could have touched that ball 1 time in that 3 minutes and in that one time he shot thus he doesn't touch the ball because the coaches view him as inefficient in shot selection and avoid giving him the ball.

I'm not saying it's the case because I don't know but it's a possibility. I could also be wrong in saying that he's a chucker because the human eye can lie. I may have seen him do it in one game and attributed that bias towards him, I'm more just pointing out how that stat is flawed.

what ever arguement you want to use to back up your claim but it really doesn't work as he backed up Cartwright at the point so he definetly got the touches to disprove that arguement as the pt ussually has the ball in his hands a lot

This is all that matters!! We need them both to play well. I'm a B1G Marble fan!! think he will be a good one (along with the IOWA team) by the time he graduates.

When a player doesn't shoot well and struggles with his shot, but forces things at times, he seems to shoot a lot more than reality says. After his career high game, Marble forced shots and missed shots...the worst combination of all. It may seem like he is a chucker, but it is the quality of shot that may make you feel that way. He also seems to never make a free throw when it matters, or ever really.
If he improves his shot selection, the percentage goes up and everyone is happy...:D

that is what i feel" i have ussually quoted Wooden on this " the best thing about freshmen { is they become sophamores}"
