Marble is back and playing

Devyn gets overlooked at times, and he is an essential part of the team. His D is very good, essential to the success of the press and half court trap that worked so well at times last season. Good to have him back from his injury so soon.....

:)

I don't know how you could say that, he is probably the most talked about player on the whole team.. but yes, good to have him back.

I agree completely. He seems to be the most "overrated" player among Iowa fans for whatever reason. Hopefully he moves beyond the shot jacker role this season but I won't hold my breath. That is just the way he plays.

i am so glad that people like you know a lot more than people who have coached him and the media people that watch these kids, rave about his ability, he was a 17 year old when he got here, he is not a one done player, so just let him develope, before you get the privelege of degrading him

Ignore IaJay...ISU troll.

Devyn was considered the most improved player year to year in PTL this year.
He is now 18 years old,so maybe he is maturing physically.
Still at that, he is still a decade younger than OK St QB Weeden...college sports are a funny business.

How in the hell am I an ISU troll? Did you ever pay attention to how many shots he put up per game in the PTL?

I kind of feel that way too but that's just based on watching him last year. I think he'll improve though.

I noticed it right away when I saw him play at the Iowa Elite camp with Brust, Larson, and that class. It was noticeable to everyone that he was a black hole then and that is how he looked when he played last year. People who base his improvement in PTL games are ridiculous because those games favor the players who handle the ball the whole game and shoot the most.

If I had to take May or Marble I would still take May just because he has the physical tools that Marble doesn't possess. Hopefully he reigns it in a bit this season, but anyone who has played with guys like that realizes that it is not some switch which stops them from jacking every time they touch the ball. It is especially a problem if he sees extended time at the one.

I kind of thought that he thought he was better than he is. I liked the confidence but I don't remember him hitting too many jumpers and he shot a lot of them. The thing is, I think he'd be a lot better served to take it to the hoop way more than he does. Though, once again, my memory of last year is pretty hazy.

I agree completely with that. Whatever prevents him from launching will help the team in the end. Hopefully the bulk he has gained will help him attack more this year. His first step will always be a little slow for the Big Ten.

Marble shot about 5.5 times a game, playing just over 19 minutes a game. That isn't much of a chucker.

But I'd rather have an over aggressive guy like Marble, than a timid guy like May.

Ya, I would personally prefer to not pick either. If you don't think he is a chucker that is up to you.

I like efficient players being aggressive, not below average shooters. Hopefully the light comes on for May to get to the hoop instead of the two dribble and pick up my dribble move becomes a thing of the past. Hubbard left a huge gap at the 3 when he did what he did.

I see a lot of upside for Marble. His play as a freshman in the Purdue game shows he has the skills to be in the BigTen.

Not sure what I expect this year but, if guessing, 3rd in scoring, 4th in rebounds, 3rd in assists on the team. If he is close to that as a Sophomore it will be a good season for him and the Hawks.
