Malik Rucker

I teach high school in the Twin Cities. One of my students is a good friend of Malik Rucker. I told him this morning that Malik's tweets to other recruits would seem to indicate that he is still planning to be a Hawkeye. To this, my student replied that he had just spoken with Malik this weekend and that Malik said that he is going to be a Hawkeye - and is not going to play down in Texas. I hope this is right, as I think Malik could be good. :)

On Iowa!

Would be nice to keep him at Iowa but I simply can't make myself get that wrapped up with the decisions a 17 or 18 year old might make.

Seriously, right? A teacher. Talking to a student. Can you imagine? Whoa's me, what have we come to?

Nah, I think it was my reference to Malik's tweets that may have come off as creepy. Long story short - I don't creep on kids' twitter accounts - I just happened to see some of his tweets. Yeah, that still kinda sounds creepy...

Anyhow, (back to the point) I haven't met him and don't plan to, but I did see him play against my school, and he looked really good on some plays (not all but...) and I am glad that it sounds like is solid.

Discussing his students' friends' twitter updates?

Uhyeah!

Twitter is a mainstay in youth culture. You think they find it odd or creepy when someone knows something about someone else because they posted something on Twitter? Kids will sit two feet apart and text and Tweet one another. It's their norm.

Your a good guy, Freddy, but you give in way too easily. The truth is that there is a horde of self-righteous, self-idolizing posters on here who can't get enough of their own "wit".

And that would be fine if a High School kid came in here and said that his friend on Twitter said he was following Rucker's tweets. However, it was a high school teacher who did it.

I know youth culture brozeph, and there is a reason I don't follow teenagers on Twitter. Here's a hint, it's not because I don't get it.

true enough, VAHawk.... and yeah, twitter is just a way to talk for kids these days (you and i get that). ...but it may have come of as creepy. anyhow.....

I am pumped with our first two recruits for '14! this year's bummer season made me nervous that we would lose Ross P and other great (especially in-state) recruits. i am really hopeful now, though!

On Iowa!

@ Ghost:

someone posted that Scheel tweeted his commitment to Iowa, so i clicked a link to see it. then, right there, was a tweet from Malik. this is not creeping. we okay now?

again, back to the point - good things happening on the Hawkeye recruiting trail!

Ghost....Shut up!! I think the level of unhappiness of some posters on here blows. There's always a debbie downer, always someone on here calling someone else something stupid, gets old. Get over yourself.

Freddy, thanks for the positive info!

No doubt people on here are proud to be keepin it fake. Its like they just wonna fit in with everyone else, than when iowa does good they follow everyone to the otherside of the fence.
Str8 phony folks

I follow a few recruits on twitter, a few are worthwhile to follow. Gesell and Woodbury tweeted neat stuff about their games and such. But others tweet stuff I have a hard time reading (must be tweet speak) or start in about some girl. If they tweet anything worthwhile about their recruiting Rob or someone will retweet it.
