Main reason why I don't want Stoops as DC

One thing I honestly don't like his personality. He is up their with Pelini, Spurrier, and Bielema. But the main reason is, do you honestly thing this guy would stick with the program 10+ years like Norm? As soon as we had a 10/+ win season, after the season he'd be gone soo fast to get a vacant head coaching job. I mean look at Charlie Weiss , 1 year in the NFL, then 1 year at Florida after he was fired by ND, now HC at Kansas. If we had Stoops, he'd be gone as soon as we got him. If we DO get him, I would bet some good money he would not be here for over 3 years MAX. AIKEN for DC 2012!!! He'd be fully committed to the Iowa program than Stoops would be IMO.

I don't think we should be too worried...not likely to pan out, IMO.

It is funny though - everyone is so relieved to be rid of Coach K ("too feisty/vocal/whatever"), but at the same time so many excited about the prospect of bringing in Stoops (a known basket case on the sideline...and probably off it, too).

As someone who hires people, on a much smaller scale of course, here is how I've viewed such a scenario; If you don't hire someone because you fear their success will lead them away you are bound to hire someone who's mediocrity will cause them to work just hard enough to stay....

Why would Aiken be more committed to Iowa. He has already left Iowa once for greener pastures.

The original poster views Stoops more negatively because he doesn't like him as well as Aiken. He sees Mike Stoops as somewhat of a loose cannon (legitimate based upon his past history) and as more of a carpetbagger (no track record to prove that), even tough he went to Iowa and his dad was buried in an Iowa jersey.

Now that is someone that definitely doesn't give a rip about Iowa (note sarcasm).

Yeah good idea. We want career assistants.

This is it. A huge, glaring difference between Fry and Ferentz. Fry hired guys who wanted to continue up the coaching ladder (i.e. motivated, hungry guys who are going to give their best all the time - because it's in their best interest to do so). Meanwhile Ferentz has hired career assistants, who are comfortable in their jobs. No pressure, no worries.

as anybody actually met the man
all anybody has seen is a few glimpses of him when the camera gets on him for a minute
and that is when he is ussually at his worst
nor have there been reports from former players saying anything negative
for me if he stays for 3 years or 10 i could care less
if he helps Iowa win and get top talent that is all i care about

Why do you guys continue to dig at Stoops' personality and question how he would get along with Ferentz?
Don't you realize Ferentz has a track record of keeping a coach that, in Ferentz's opinion, gets good results? Coach K. is an example here. KOK is as well.
Even if the coach doesn't get along with Ferentz. I'm not inferring that Ferentz and KOK don't get along.
However, if the coach doesn't get results that satisfies Ferentz...

Sidenote: how many Iowa coaches has Ferentz kept that don't get results satisfactory to Ferentz?
Even if they are 'buds' with Ferentz?

Answer: zero.

KF won't hire him b/c KF is the 4-million dollar, top-dog man. Hire Stoops and there could be a power struggle. What if the defense actually starts stopping people on 3rd and 4th downs?? Maybe we start talking about Stoops as our next HC....power-struggle. KF will just hire one of his 'yes-men' as DC, so we can expect more of the same as what we have seen in the last 7 years

you are dilusional if you think KF is worried about somebody taking his job away
contray to popular belief KF wants to win
and he will hire the best available Coach to get the job done

I hope you don't really believe this. This is one of the most delusional posts I've ever read

and you are dilusional to think Aiken won't leave for a HC job just as quick if offerred
my one and only wish is that whoever gets the job
he improves the defense to what it was in the 1st years of KF program that resulted in Top 10 finishes
