Lunardi's Next 4 Out...

The way this season is unfolding is reminding me a lot of '05. If they beat Nebraska tomorrow, win the first two in the Big Ten Tournament, and then are competitive in the 3rd game I think they'll sneak in. That year they beat Michigan State in the second round and then almost took out Wisconsin in the third round (Horner just missed a shot at the buzzer if I recall).

All that being said I'm pretty sure Bowlsby was on the selection committee that year.

Hawks got beat on a buzzer beater that day against Becky Badger. Game was heading for OT until he made that prayer.

And if IIRC, Bowlsby was the chair of the committee that year.

Cincinnati ran them out of the building that first round game. Never was close. But in '06 they won the Big Ten Tournament, got a #3 seed AND..................never mind.

Anyone who thinks all but KY on that list deserve consideration over Iowa are nuts. This isn't just coming from a biased fan, those other teams profiles are WORSE than Iowa's. Take a leap lunardi.

The thing about Kentucky is that they lost their best player for the year. I heard plenty of times analysts say the committee will look at their resume of what the team did after they lost their star player. That resume is pretty weak. Kentucky should be out IMHO.

I think Kentucky either has to beat Florida this weekend or win their conference tournament to make it. A win over Florida without their (Kentucky's) best player gives them some credibility. I don't think Kentucky will beat Florida...just laying out the scenario.

So in summary, first you were wrong on what exactly he is trying to do. Rather than acknowledge that you don't know what you're talking about, you resort to calling it meaningless.

Sure, all of this could be called "meaningless". That isn't the point; it's interesting to discuss, otherwise we wouldn't be here.

Deal with it, *****

IIRC, Iowa down 2, horner or haluska try a corner 3 to take the lead but miss the brunner had a putback to tie. The alando tucker made his lame shot.

Chat: Chat with Joe Lunardi - SportsNation - ESPN

"Mark (Knoxville)

tired of everyone else's opinion. Taking it RIGHT to the top with "THE" Joe Lunardi! Is Iowa's only way into the dance via winning the B1G tourney?

Joe Lunardi (2:26 PM)

Could be some really good wins along the way that might do it if everything else breaks their way. But that NonConf SOS is the wrong kind of resume boost.

At 9-9 and 1 win in the BTT the Hawks are on the bubble, they will need some breaks to get in but it can happen. But if they upset Michigan, Ohio State, Wisconsin, MSU in the 2nd round they are in, I do not care what anybody says. There is NO way the committee will keep a 22-12 Iowa team out of the tournament with a 9-9 record in the best conference.
