Lunardi's Next 4 Out...

How can Lunardi justify leaving Iowa out of the next four out? Let's look at the resumes compared to Iowa. The things that should give Iowa the edge are in red.

Iowa - (Nebraska)
19-11 (8-9)
BPI - 52
RPI - 76
RPI Top 50 Wins - ISU, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois - (4)

Next Four Out:

Arizona State - (@ #18 Arizona)
20-10 (9-8)
BPI - 65
RPI - 94
RPI Top 50 Wins - Colorado, UCLA, California, @Colorado - (4)

Kentucky - (Florida)
20-10 (11-6)
BPI - 46
RPI - 54
RPI Top 50 - Missouri - (1)
*Missing best player. No where near as good without him.

Maryland - (@Virginia)
20-10 (8-9)
BPI - 56
RPI - 86
RPI Top 50 Wins - NC State, Duke - (2)

Providence - (@UConn)
17-12 (9-8)
BPI - 78
RPI - 60
RPI Top 50 Wins -Cincinnati, Notre Dame - (2)

Also all these teams will be favored to lose in their final regular season games. In my opinion Iowa is already ahead of these teams and needs to do well in the Big10 Tournament to pass the likes of Temple, Boise State, Virginia.

Good analysis, Dunder.

Of those 4 teams, only Kentucky has an argument to be ahead of Iowa based on the numbers.

Lunardi is trying to predict what the committee will do. It's possible that he thinks we deserve higher but thinks we'll get "screwed".

How Iowa is behind Arizona State, I don't know.

That makes no sense.

I wish we played in any of those conferences. I bet anything we'd have a better record and would be a lock if we weren't in the Big 10.

I hope you mean he is not trying to predict what the committee will do. His bracketology has always been a snapshot if the season ended today.

Except our SOS (and, therefore, our RPI) would be much lower, wouldn't it?

Lunardi will magically get them right the day of the tournament

Plus almost any idiot could get 65 of the 68 right

It would also be nice to see SOS and RPI 100+ loss numbers.

And last 10 record, but can't do that without either predicting or using results that won't be the final #'s. I think UK has an argument except they only have 1 Top 50 win and are without their best player. I think we all know why they get an edge over Iowa.

Honestly and objectively, I can't see why Iowa wouldn't be ahead of any of those teams especially if you did a blind look at their resumes.

This. Everyone who does bracket predictions always brags about getting so many right out of 68, however, those are predictions made at the last minute not 10 days to play.

It could easily be predictions on what the committee would do if the season ended today as opposed to what he thinks it should be if the season ended today. That sort of prediction is meaningless anyways.

So in summary, first you were wrong on what exactly he is trying to do. Rather than acknowledge that you don't know what you're talking about, you resort to calling it meaningless.

Sure, all of this could be called "meaningless". That isn't the point; it's interesting to discuss, otherwise we wouldn't be here.
