Lunardi Last 4 In 3/9 4:00 pm

ISU better not get lose by 10+ to Oklahoma in the conference tournament. I don't think they are that strong of an "in." If they are going to make it then ISU getting more wins only helps us.

Boise beat San Diego St today, so that probably means the Mountain West will get 5 teams in. That 5th team in from the MWC could cost Iowa a berth.

Hard to believe the MWC gets five teams in and the best conference in America would only get five......

What are you talking about? According the media in central Iowa, ISU has been in the tournament since December. It's been treated as a foregone conclusion.

You're telling me something different?

I enjoy that it has gotten to you enough to make this post.

Conference record doesn't matter when those teams have top 50 RPI rankings, Minnesota and Illinois are still considered good wins, despite the current state of those two teams.

Agree with the first part. The 2nd part not sure. This isn't a formula and they spit things out. There will be room for analysis which is why more may be needed.

The RPI is total crap. It doesn't even take home/road into account.

Iowa is the 6th place team in the best conference. We should be in, period, and if Lunardi doesn't like it, he can suck me. Dude's a piker.

Were electronic means the peerless determent of tournament teams, my inclination would be to acquiesce to your premise. However, with the human element a primary component, these victories lack the merit you assert.

The RPI takes home/road into account.

Correct. What it does NOT take into account is margin of victory/defeat.

So someone who loses to Duke by 40 gets just as much credit as a team that loses to Duke in triple overtime. Stupid as heck, but that's the way it works.
