LSU-Oregon

Second half has been pretty good. LSU going to win. 40-27. Bet not many expected that after Jefferson was charged.

Can we please stop making the "Blur" out to be some all-world offense? I realize James was out for much of the game, but he still only averaged 3.0 ypc. He's a great back, but this offense isn't nearly as good as they're made out to be.

LSU was living in the Oregon backfield all night, just dominated.

Is it a coincidence that this is pretty much the story every time Oregon faces a good defense?

Darron Thomas threw the ball 52 times...he's not a terribly good QB unless he's got that running game to play off of. Plus Oregon dropped a whole bunch of passes, continued to blow their own toe off with penalties/turnovers all game, and LSU dominated with their running game in the 2nd half.

The game wasn't nearly as close as the score may suggest. LSU took Oregon to the woodshed in the second half.

Oregon's offense did not do anything until the game was decided. The Duck's vaunted offense had 9 total yards in the third quarter. LSU just physically beat the snot out of Oregon.

The Ducks have trouble competing against good teams that have more than one week to prepare. Suprisingly, Corso pointed this out during Game Day & predicted LSU would win the game. He had all the facts & figures to support his conclusion. It is remarkable how ineffective Oregon's offense is when good teams have more than one-week to prepare.

Don't forget that Cal shut them down last season, too.

I think the big keys are:

1. More than a week to prepare
2. A good defensive line

If you have either of these, you stand a fair chance to at least give them a game. If you have both (as LSU, OSU, and Auburn did), you're going to beat them, and look dominant while doing it.

Oregon is just weak up front on offense. Quick, athletic, yes. But they can't match up with good defensive lines. Auburn, OSU, LSU, etc. have all lived in the backfield against Oregon.
