I went to a Royals/Rockies game in KC this summer and sported Hawkeye gear. The lady taking tickets said "There sure are a lot of Iowa fans today, then again, there are always a lot of Hawkeye fans here. They're always the nicest people."
I also agree that it is an unwritten law to say "Go Hawks" but it's a little uncomfortable when you come across someone wearing the black and gold that isn't a true fan. I was at the Illinois H.S. girls state basketball tournament and an older gentleman was wearing an Iowa polo. I said "Go Hawks" and he looked at me like I was crazy. I pointed at the Tigerhawk on his chest and he fumbled with words and ended with "oh... yeah." Either way, it won't stop me from saying it again...
