Just heard Lou say that the only bowl game the Big Ten won last year was when, "Iowa upset South Carolina." Were we underdogs or is this old fart just crazy? Cuz that was no upset.
 






I am sick of Lou Holtz and ESPN - everytime someone on ESPN asks 'Dr. Lou' about college football I think he should respond with "If they would just cheat and get NCAA sanctions like I did at every school I coached for they would be much better."

At least ESPN has Mark May - he always supports Iowa, then gets accused of doing so simply because he is friends with KF.
 


I don't mind hearing criticism of our program, when its done with facts and based on reality. But Holtz has not lived in reality for many years.
 


Doesn't matter what the rankings or Vegas spread is... any time the BigTen plays the SEC it's an upset. :mad:
 


The old fart is just crazy. I continue to by mystified by his continued presence on TV. He's almost like a comedy skit, except he's not trying to be a comedy skit.

His "Dr. Lou" segment is just priceless. The platitudes, the slobbering. Priceless.

He must have been a real loser when he lived in IC for grad school. I can tell he resents us because he couldn't get a date or something, or maybe he's just ****** off that his beloved ND is choking on applesauce. Don't know why he takes it out on us though.
I remember about 2/3's the way through the season he was talking about how easy our schedule is (wow) and how we almost lost to Illinois (obviously we didn't play them). It's clear to me he hasn't actually watched us play a single game. Everytime I look at him I just want to drive across the country and punch him in the temple.
The only redeeming thing for ESPN is when Mark May occasionally puts him in his place.
Do you think Holz will be around next year? I sure hope not. ESPN likes the femmy drama, but at the same time I think a lot of people turn the boob tube off when he's on (me included).

C'mon, surely you can't be surprised by this? Lou Holtz pick ND to play in the NC game for crying out loud. Anything he says after that has no credibility at all.

Shincshe when hash Iowa ever been favored in ANY bowl game??? It's shimple! NEVER! And eshpecially againsht a far shuperior team like Shouth Carolina and Shteve Shpurrier! Sherioushly, the only team that could beat Shouth Carolina is Notre Dame...posshibly Minneshota, but who am I to shay...it'sh been yearsh shince they were good...dating back to when a shertain coach wash there...you know, jusht before they got in trouble for shomething...But you can't exshpect me to remember what it wash! I mean, I'm only one man...one man who pishsesh hish pantsh whenever shomeone bakesh a potato in the microwave and...oopsh...where wash I? OH YESH! Iowa shucksh...sh..ucksh...SHhhh..uckshhhh...dammit, Iowa ish terrible! Get over it!

Best Gameday sign ever read: "Lou Holtz for Prethedent".

But sometimes us Hawkeye fans think the world is out to get us...I specifically remember a segment when Reece is the judge and May and Holtz have to make their case and the question was who should play for the NC. The question was phrased to purposely not include the Hawkeyes and Holtz said he was going to answer the question however he wanted and included the Hawkeyes and said that you have to include the Hawkeyes.

He has stood up for us on several occasions and despite his general demeanor and blatant homerism...Lou Holtz is one of the brightest college football minds in the nation. He realizes how he comes across and he's got no problem with that.

I've also heard that his motivational speeches that he gives primarily for businesses are phenomenal. I do not care for Notre Dame in general...but I can at least see his act for what it is...funny.

If you don't think he knows his stuff...take a look at his coaching record and see how the teams he coached did before he got there and then see how they did with him at the helm. Now as far as leaving programs on probation...we won't get into that.
