Looks like Iowa may be out for Kouandjio

If his final 2 choices are Bama and USC, it's obvious that Iowa fell out of the bidding a LONG time ago...these auctions usually come down to the high rollers who aren't afraid to over pay for something they really, REALLY want...

I meant to say "he probably wants the chance at a BCS title"...that's what I meant...it just came out a little different...

Funny.

Really? I guess you don't pay too much attention to college football. Give Iowa 40 points over the last 3 years and they would have been undefeated for three years. BCS bowls win last year, win over number 12 Missouri this year. Yeah, I guess we are in the toilet.

Haha, are you an oracle now? Nobody knows for sure what would have happened in that game.

I may not be an oracle, but i can tell you one thing, and that is NO national Title under KF. EVER

I guess you dont pay too much attention to college football or sports in general. If you give any team more points over the past three years then they would all have national titles not just iowa. We cant even win the conference outright. We had one real shot at that and that was back in 2002 and even if we played OSU we would have lost then. You kool aid drinkers need to wake up and realize that if it was going to happen it would have happened by now. I love KF and i dont want another coach, but as long as he is our coach we will NEVER win a national title. Just face it, we are not an elite program nor can we compete with the elites.

Is LSU elite? Florida? How do you define elite? Iowa has defeated those programs.

Iowa took tOSU into overtime last year for the big ten title and came up short (with a reserve QB running the show). Had Stanzi not gone down in 2009, Iowa very well could've gone undefeated in the regular season.

As it was, they went 11-freakin 2. What is elite? 11 wins?

Iowa had a very disappointing year this year and still managed to beat a very good Missour team with an NFL caliber QB.

We do compete in a conference with tOSU (who has the most BCS bowl wins of any team). That's a tough draw, in my opinion.

Iowa has won three bowls in a row. I'm pretty happy with that. Maybe next year they get back into a BCS bowl. Have faith (presuming you WANT to have faith). BCS bowl=elite. :)

do you think that it is too much to think that his only pull to the iowa program is player development & the coaching staff? Maybe he has all the info he needed from one-on-one with KF & staff, as well as first person accounts from Coker. That may be all that he needs to satisfy a decision, it's not like we can take him to the amana colonies and "wow" him. Maybe his current coaches and influences in his life have no "insider" info about USC, and to statisfy his own mind he needs to see it firsthand.

if you re-read the tweet, the guy did not say definitively that Iowa was out, it was his opinion based off cyrus's decision to visit USC instead of Iowa (I would too). I know this is a positive spin, but equally so is the negative tweet that is just as speculative.

I was thinking along these lines also..plus I keep seeing references to the fact that he has visited Iowa in the past..maybe last year I don't know..

the differences between an offical and unofficial visit are usually pretty significant. Unless its an in-state kid or a kid that has visited multiple times unofficially you rarely get commits that haven't taken an official visit to a school.

It's fine with me that we lost out on Kouandjio. His name sounds way too much like Koulianos, and we know how that worked out for us. The name should have been a sign!

I'm sure UConn would be honored for you to call them elite.

Dude, if you can't understand the difference between 10 and 2 elite and 8 and 4 elite then you obviously know very little about football. The BCS didn't have A CHOICE IN THE MATTER on whether it selected UCONN. They got in by way of default. Iowa, which the BCS DIDN'T HAVE TO PICK, was just that PICKED because of the type of team they had. If not for Stanzi going down, who knows where Iowa would have wound up. Iowa was right in the race in 02' with Brad Banks and company if you don't recall. Remove 1 half from the Iowa St. game and you have no idea where Iowa plays in the BCS. They have been on the cusp a couple of times and have some good talent in place. Lets see how it plays out or better yet, since you have so little faith, just go root for another team.

1 BCS bowl every 7 years is not elite.

some of those wins were against big names in down years. That is called selective comparing. Beating those teams in a one-off means just that.

Go root for Iowa State. That's what you sound like.

People commit after an in-house visit. Sometimes people NEED to visit, others do not. Attempting to PRETEND to know is quite hilarious when you step back and see it for what it is. CK will be going where he feels comfortable. He knows he will play no matter where he will go. This decision he makes by months end will either help his professional career in three years, or not. Because he WILL be leaving after three years. It is a race to who can prepare him faster for the NFL, my money will be in KF's corner. There will be no bias, nor any cool-aid in that corner either. It is the truth- CK just has to see it!
