Looking to the Quarterfinals

Well I can't say that I am happy about what transpired yesterday, but again I can't really say I'm too disappointed. Janssen rebounded nicley from an early loss and Gambrall beat a guy many were predicting to win the whole thing. Losing Ramos and Rasing this early hurt and Rasing faces the #4 seed right away in the wrestle backs just to stay alive. This round is going to tell us a lot about where Iowa will stand in the team race. I honestly only expect Iowa to get 1 on to the semi's (McDonough). If that rings true then we are going to need some help with some of the Cornell and PSU guys getting knocked off. There are some interesting matchups for PSU this round with Alton, Ruth, Wright and Wade all being guys I think could fall into the consi's. Cornell is going to have to ride the train of their big dogs (Dake, Lewnes, and Simaz), but Bosak is in postion for a finals run also. Going to be an interesting day with lots of questions answered and more will probably arise..

I'm Mr. Negativity, but we are going to have to get a couple miracles to have a shot at this thing. I see Montell, St. John and Gambrall getting knocked to the consolation bracket right away. Rasing will be knocked out of the tourny in his first match. If Janssen wins his first match, he runs into Kerber just to get into the medal rounds. If Ethan Lofthouse wins his first match, he will have a tough go with Luke Manuel to get into the medals. I'm not sure what to think about Luke Lofthouse's match. He will have to face Kilgore right away to stay on the top side. My guess would be that he will join the others in the consos. My guess will be 5 all-americans with 1 potential champion and finish as a team around 3rd or 4th.

sucks that our chances of winning the title are getting thin, but kinda of amazing considering we lost 10 wrestlers from last years championship run.

& it is striking that even with our losses, PSU is beating us on bonus points (12 I think, thru last night).
