Looking at Iowa's Remaining Needs, Targets in the '19 Class

The staff no longer feels good about Henrich. Iowa is on the outside for his services. It will be Nebraska with Wisconsin having a better chance than Iowa.

That is too bad, I really liked the looks of him as a future MLB or perhaps even DE (his highlights show a dominant pass rusher). Perhaps tides will change, but if not, that feels like a pretty big loss.

I could see him being a monster playing outside in Wisconsin's 3-4, I wonder if that is part of the selling point?

Damn, that stinks. He's the recruit whose father played tennis at Iowa, correct?

Thanks. Again, damn. If we were losing him to someone like Bama or Notre Dame, then it wouldn't sting as much, but Nebraska or Wisconsin... ouch.

Barrett Ruud is apparently an outstanding recruiter. I think he was responsible for them getting Will Honas as well, at least as far as another Iowa target.

Based on what exactly?

There's a poster on another board that knows the family and has said the likelihood of Iowa getting Henrich has decreased quite a bit. Plus, there have been other posters that typically have good info that have said the staff doesn't feel very good about their chances. Obviously, no one knows for 100% certainty....

What are the odds Logan Lee ends up taking the Jack Plumb route?

I have seen him listed as big as 6'6", 240lbs (most commonly listed at 6'5", 225lbs). After winning state wrestling as a sophomore at 220lbs, he qualified for state last year at 285 (did not place). His junior year receiving stats are modest (11 rec for 155 yds and 3 TDs), though he did win TE/WR MVP honors at a Rivals spring camp in Chicago. He is mentioned as a consummate worker and team guy, as well as a mauling blocker. Below is a quote from his HS coach from the afore linked article:

"He is an Iowa tight end, through and through," Filler said. "He is a run-blocker. He’ll make plays in the passing game for us. He’ll do well at the next level doing the same thing. People ask me all the time, 'Well don't you think he could play defensive end? Don't you think he could be better at defensive end?'

"I don't think so, at the next level, just because of all the spread offenses and all the people playing in space. His big thing is his physicality, and he can line up at tight end and he can crush people. And I know that’s what Coach (Kirk) Ferentz wants him to do."
If he doesn't end up at OT, I look forward to him developing into a 265lb TE who just destroys people in the run game while keeping them honest in the pass game. If that is his destiny, it seems like Iowa could still really use a Fant/Beyer type "move" TE in this class, as you alluded to in your article.
Logan wrestled the regular season at 220 but had to bump up to 285 due to an error by the coaching staff for the state tournament. That would be a tough jump in weight for anyone.
He's a really great young man with great work ethic. Can't wait to see him wearing black and gold.

Gotta love when coaches fail to cross T's and dot I's.
