2014 NBA Mock Draft: Joel Embiid Usurps Top Spot in Latest 1st-Round Projection | Bleacher Report

Roy Devyn Marble has taken his game and team to a new level this season, with Iowa now the No. 14 team in the country.
Coming off a 22-point game in a win over Ohio State and a 27-point game against Wisconsin, it's time for Marble to get some national recognition.
He's like a Swiss Army Knife out there. Marble plays every position 1 through 3, with the ability to handle the ball, facilitate, attack or shoot from outside. He's averaging 16.4 points, 3.4 assists on nearly 37 percent shooting from three.
There's always one senior who comes out of nowhere to surprise late in Round 1—two years ago it was Miles Plumlee, last year it was Solomon Hill. Though still early, Marble has the experience, floor game and versatility to attract a similar type of interest.

I predicted 2 years ago he'd be a late 2nd round pick in the NBA. I want to be an annoying braggart when it comes to this one.

Nothing like a big performance on national tv to get some love on these mock drafts....Dev has not been on any until this week. ...good for him.

As for BJ being his agent.....not sure about that....to me, BJ is a mixed bag as DRose's agent....of course he works for superagent Arm Tellum is BJ's boss.

Better ball handling would really make him a better, more developed player

His ball handling is fine. He is 6'6" and in the college game always matched up with a smaller defender. He's not going to have a flashy cross over and be able to go under the smaller defenders.

That's not true. I posted a link in another thread prior to the season that he was listed as the final pick in the 2nd round, but that was probably the only one that had him getting drafted... well other than bcl20 and me of course :D

He develops a shot I think he gets in late in the draft or signs as an undrafted FA. He'd have to put on some weight to be able to compete though but he's a sophomore in college so it's not remotely impossible that this happens.

He'd have to make it as a small forward though and that's a very tough position to make. You have to be able to do a lot at a high level to succeed at that position.

I really hope he works his *** off in the off season working on his shot. If he can start sticking jumpers on a regular basis he could be a great college player for sure.

So I get props if he's an undrafted free agent too. I covered all my bases on this one (unless he goes higher which would be fun because there's some epic Ghost-fail in that thread if that happens)

So based on their draft potential this year, Bleacher Report would have a B1G 1st team of:
Noah Vonleh (#9 pick for them), Gary Harris (#11), Glenn Robinson III (#18), Adreian Payne (#19), and Roy Devyn Marble (#24).
Nick Stauskas (#27), and Sam Dekker (#28) would be second team.
That's what a good showing in a big game on national TV will do for you.

This is going to come off negative but...

Jok - too soon for me to make a judgement
Woody- Even at 7 foot, he doesn't have the length or hops to make it in the NBA
Uthoff- Tweener, not quick enough to play the 3, not thick enough to play the 4
White- At this point no.... he's going to have to improve his outside jump shot. It's not there yet. White also has the tweener issues.

I disagree on White and Uthoff. They do have tweener issues, but I don't think that'll be what keeps them from getting drafted (if they don't get drafted, that is). Gordon Hayward was listed at 6'9" 208 as a sophomore at Butler. White is 220 and Uthoff is 209. Hayward shot under 30% from 3-point range as a sophomore (although he did shoot well as a freshman from behind the arc) and played a similar role to White and Uthoff. He wasn't a post up player; he was a wing player who was a 4 for Butler. And he was a top-10 pick, and is now starting to come into his own during his fourth season.

Hayward was the comparison made with White coming out of high school, and it still fits pretty well. It doesn't fit Uthoff as well, mostly because he's a better ball handler than White is or Hayward was.

If this team has a player with lottery pick potential it's Uthoff (I don't think he'll be a lottery pick but I love his skill set.)

I just want to be clear, I wasn't suggesting White/Uthoff are lottery material. But I do think they can stick in the NBA if they continue to develop.

I didn't think you were. I was more just making a comment that I will probably quote in 3 years.
