Re: My early reaction having listened live...

is that the UI did themselves no favors with this PC. No one at the PC from the strength staff that could provide any details on the workouts being done or describe the timeline of events as they played out.

The media will continue (and should continue) to pile on and ask questions. If you end up with 12 or 13 players hospitalized as a result of workouts, then something is wrong, either with the regimen being given to the players or with something the players were doing. It's good that the players are receiving care and should all be fine, but something like this just cannot/should not happen.

I'm not going Gregg Doyel on the UI here, but they need to get their heads out of their rear ends and put the information out there.

We have a timeline from Poggi's father, who can circumvent privacy laws (family member). This exercise has also been done before via the head of football ops. If you believe Iowa's story, the specifics of why this outbreak now has not yet been determined so it would be imprudent to speculate.

Besides that, Iowa's hands are sort of tied. Would have been nice to have Barta there to explain that, though.

Re: My early reaction having listened live...

Don't you think it would be prudent to get all of the facts together FIRST before feeling the need to explain every last detail to anyone out there that wants to pose a question?

In any situation like this (think 9-11, or any other big event) in the beginning there is nothing more than questions, there are no answers. It takes time to get it all sorted out, figure out what happened, what might have caused the situations etc.

I can't believe how shallow people are in that the expect within hours of the event happening that the U of I can simply answer every question that everyone has. Over time, it will all get figured out. In the mean time, everyone can continue to speculate, draw their own conclusions, spread rumors or whatever else they feel trips their trigger.

Some of you need a little reality check.

Jim Poggi's dad provided a timeline of the week or so leading up to Jim's admission to the hospital. Staff and medical faculty can't say anything about cases.
