Linderbaum vs. Lima ... and the winner is ...

LINDERBAUM.

I think we have the potential for another All-American Center down the road. Tyler Linderbaum more than held up his end of the bargain against Lima who will be playing on Sundays next year. Not to mention it was a loud crowd on the road, wet ball and his snaps looked near perfect ... pretty damn impressive for a RS Freshman.

I thought the offensive line played well for the most part. I agree I think Linderbaum will be special.
I agree and was actually surprised at how well we were able to run the ball at times. On the other hand, the lack of success on third and short was disappointing.

I think Stanley is probably averaging 3 yards + on QB sneaks this year. It's almost a no brainer to make that call.

I like Stanley carrying the ball any time. I’d love to see a 3rd and 2 where he fakes the QB draw up the middle and just darts to the outside.

Plus on 3rd and 4th and inches he’s 6’5 and 240 lbs he literally just needs to fall forward and he gets the first down every time.

Everyone talked about Lima like he was unstoppable. They said he was ISU’s AJE, I thought he was a non-factor. Iowa moved ISU’s d-line pretty easily most of the night. Sargent was getting 4-6 yards every play. Don’t know why they weren’t doing more of that.

Per official stats, the Lima Bean had one tackle.

I think this offensive line is already better at run blocking than the 17 & 18 teams, even without Alaric Jackson. How much better remains to be seen. They aren't as good at pass protection as last years team though. With a little Luck we will get Jackson back at some point. I don't see a need in hurrying him, and risking further injury.

I didn’t mind it. They guessed right with the corner blitz

I thought so as well, it was a very good ball fake and if I remember right we had someone very open deep. Never will no for sure but I think they may go for it on 4th if incomplete. It was an aggressive call and ultimately, they called a blitz perfectly.

That first 3rd and inches where we tried to pass and failed miserably was truly one of the worst play calls I've ever seen. You QB sneak that all day.

I agree not that a play action and go for a big play is bad but iirc it was early 2nd qtr and we were behind 7-3 and I just thought getting an almost sure first down with a QB sneak, getting some rhythm, getting the running game going.

Anyway, it didnt turn out well but a good punt got them out of trouble.

And to those who say dont complain when a QB sneak fails I say to them it is how you do the QB sneak. Last year a nearly a 2 yard QB sneak was needed against Wisky and Nate went to high and got stood up. He seems to do great boring straight ahead with his head lowered behind Linderbaum and the guards.

Our ol looked good.
I also seen Nixion absolutely blow up the middle of their ol a couple of times.
We looked good in the trenches. Our rb's looked good.
I'm more concerned with our lb's and db's than I was before. Definitely need to get healthy and we definitely need some guys to step up.

Agree with that. Thought Iowa could’ve really imposed their will on Iowa State on the ground more.
