You hear a lot of talk about LInderbaum being such a good center and I've never doubted it, but I've only seen him the past couple of years making good blocks, but I rewatched the game this morning and just watched our offensive line and I was in awe of him, how he's used and what a huge part of our offense he is. When you see our RB's make a good play, he's the one making the key block most of the time.
Centers usually don't have the advantage of getting off the ball earlier than the DL by knowing the snap count because, obviously, they have to snap it. Even with this disadvantage, he is able to get into a guy and drive him back. You rarely see a center able to drive a DL backward as often as he does on a regular basis.
Another thing is he pulls a lot, which you don't centers do very often, which is really tough for a center to do because he has to stay centered to ensure a good snap and still get out and lead the play, but he's got such quick feet, he's able to get out and lead the play. When he does, he's a great blocker in space. On misdirection plays, he blocks and releases into space.
He's a good pass blocker and he reach blocks well on stretch plays. It is just as much fun watching just him as it is watching the game itself.
He's not just technically sound either. All that's fine, but as I was watching him, several times I though, wow, what an asshole. Of course I only meant this as a complement. There was one play in particular near the goal line where he flatbacked the D-lineman and then went out to backer, got into him, and drove him into the end zone.
Another thing I was thinking was that it almost seemed as though our offense was built around him and how the defense plays him, which sounds crazy. They rarely blitzed A gaps, because they got nothing when they did.
I would suggest you all watch him if you have it on DVR. You won't be disappointed.
He's such a weapon. I haven't seen other centers around the nation, but if he doesn't win the Rimington, then it's total bull shit.
