Life long Hawkeye...FAN

I support the team, the staff, everyone involved in the program. I suffered through losing season and after losing season as a young hawkeye fan. I love the Good Captain. I however am not oblivious to problems on this team. Number one Kirk needs somebody on this staff that is animated and wears their emotions on their sleeves. This is college football not the NFL, these kids need someone who lives and breathes with every possession. This program needs a defensive philosophy that gives us a chance to recruit top flight kids that want to play something besides cover 2. Everyone in the country including ultra conservatives coaches like Tressel gamble. This program needs an offensive philosophy that is at least on the cutting edge. I am not talking spread offense, but I watch other teams that are conservative that sprinkle in some spread, some west coast, some power I, some I, some wildcat and still stay somewhat conservative. I think this staff develops players better then anyone in the country...if the Good Captain goes out and picks up some young vibrant personalities that know the game the sky is the limit. Until then I will be happy with 7-5 and 8-4 because I remember 0'fers....just thought I would vent a little. Now out for a good piece of red meat and some crown royal.

I agree with the OP. Can you all remember when Kirk used to have some fire on the sidelines? He seems so lethargic now. Kind of like how the team has been playing lately.

I have to agree as well, something needs to be changed up or we can expect nothing more as fans.

Thank you for a post of reason, too!

When I sit in my seats at Kinnick and when I watch on TV the other team has young coaches who are full of brim and firestone...who fills that void on our team? Tough as a player to get super charged without somebody really lighting your fire. These kids are not professional athletes that can push their own buttons...college kids need some direction.

Sad to say it but I think DMac would be fill this role perfectly as defensive coordinator if Norm leaves.

Hey! KF put a youthful looking stocking cap on at halftime...what more do you want him to do?!?

The staff is old, stale, and ineffective.

Sorry. I'm just the messenger. There's a reason other programs don't poach our assistants.

Coach K, the d-line coach, is pretty young and animated.

I also I support the program, rather than have the attitude that they owe me something. I want them all to do well. In the big picture, they have it going on the right path. But I also agree that it sure would be nice if they added a few wrinkles to the playbook.

One downside to Kirk's coaching philosophy is that the "even keel" nature can't seem to turn things around if they start to go downhill. He has had a lot of seasons of surprising improvement as the season wore on, but also a few clunkers where it all came apart.

I was shocked to see Kirk in a hat like that.

I'm a fan for life, but today was totally unacceptable. In fact, this whole year has been a train wreck.

Not since 1997 has Iowa had so much talent and underachieved so much.
