Lets face it, Fitzgerald > Ferentz

Kirk could never do what Fitzgerald has been able to do in Evanston.

And yes his sideline antics can be a little much but man our team looks so listless and emotionless at times. Just little to no apparent fire at times. Who do you think they take after?

If the "would you rather" game was asked to Fritz that asked, "would you rather beat Iowa every year or win a conference championship" I bet he would choose beating Iowa. This year he doesn't have too choose.

My wife went to Duke so I have watched the last two Duke / NW games.
Over two games (home/away) Duke has beaten NW twice - averaging 31 points and 420 yds per game.
Iowa has scored 10 in each of the last two games against NW.
Perhaps the coaching staff should look at the Duke film for some guidance?

I've been saying this bince 2010. A key difference between them is Fitz is the biggest Northwestern fan in the world. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if the guy died of aneurysm in his 50s yelling "GO CATS" to a random fan in April after a 3-9 season. The guy loves the 'Cats.

Kurt tolerates the Hawks. He likes the Hawks, but he's not "in like" with the Hawks. It's just a job. Part of it is the insufferable elements of the fanbase. I can't imagine the patience Kurt must have to do the I-Club tour of Iowa.

I agree with a lot of your takes but this is wrong as hell. Having been to them myself, I don’t think you must have ever been to one.

People literally start trembling and their voice cracks when they meet him. 95% of the people going to these things are either donors participating in a whose dick is bigger contest, or wannabes who probably can’t afford the plate but want to rub elbows and meet Ferentz. Myself, I grew up in the same town as some certain wrestling staff and go for the golfing and shit talking with those guys. Full disclosure; I only get to go because my boss is a donor and I don’t pay for anything. I don’t have any shame.

Ferentz gets fucking worshipped at I-Club events. Even if there were people who don’t agree with the guy they’d never have the stones to give him any shit about it anyways. They’re too busy putting selfies on Snapchat and trying to get him to sign a football at age 50 like a teenage girl Beatle fan.

If anything they’re an ego booster for the guy, not a pain in the ass.

I agree. I mentioned to my friends at the game that the NW players on the sideline were pumped up jumping and yelling when big plays for them happened on the field.

Fitz takes calculated chances, he is not afraid of a failed play as it is only football and he feels in control anyway.

Fitz knows how cautious Kirk is so Fitz can blitz, pack the box on defense and shut down Iowa's offense because Kirk wont dial up many home run deep passes.

It is infuriating for Iowa and the fans but he does have Kirk's number.

Fitz takes chances on offense yet he has a decent run game and a good controlled passing game. He makes sure he has a good running QB because that keeps drives alive (ala CJ Beathard).

Fitz learned from Barnett who built the program up and also as a coach under the head coach who tragically died that you are the underdog so you have to take chances.

We all know how well Kirk and the hawks do as underdogs so maybe they should get that chip on their shoulders for every game.

Would love to see Kirk take some more bigger chances on deep throws, a reverse pass, more counter plays.

Hey, while we're at it, don't forget

Urban > KF
Jimmy > KF
Franklin > KF
Dantonio > KF

Chryst > KF
Brohm > KF

But hey,

KF > Lovie
KF > Ash

( others are in transition / too soon to judge )

So, if Brohm leaves, KF cracks the top half of league coaches again. Woohoo!

Yeah, I get it. They like Kirk. Great. But that has to get really old. I went to one a long time ago and there were guys asking questions about why they called a specific play on a specific down of a certain game in the past.

Look, I'm sorry but if you're a 50 year old guy going in for a selfie or an autograph (other than an autograph for a sick kid or dying family member) there's just something not right. Maybe you're one of those guys, and I'm sorry if you are.

I'm not one of those guys. The last time I asked anyone for an autograph was in 1990 at the California Angels training camp in Gene Autry Park, Mesa, AZ. Nine years old.

Bert Blyleven---total dick
Lance Parrish---Awesome guy
Wally Joyner---Awesome
Dave Winfield---Nicest pro athelete I've ever met
Jim Abbott---So shy and nervous I thought he was going to puke. Really nice guy.
Chili Davis---Gave me half a broken bat and said some really cool shit in his Jamaican accent
Dante Bichette---Hit baseballs right around 5 miles to dead center
Bert Blyleven---total puke
Bert Blyleven---worst guy in the world

First thing I thought of was Jim Abbott. I sent Jim Abbott an Upper Deck card seeking an autograph. Guy never sent it back. Now I haven't checked card prices in awhile, but I can only assume they have continued their trend from 1990 and that card is probably worth $1.2 million by now. Hopefully he can get a new prosthetic hand.

I was just going to post the exact same thing.

Look no farther than the call in show "Hawk Talk"
90 minute program but the coach is there for less than 60 minutes

Blyleven was the type of pitcher who would bitch about a pitch being called a ball before it left his hand. He had a great curve ball however and he got plenty of strikes with it. He also won a world series with the Pirates in 1979..

Lance Parrish was the last guy you wanted to try and run over at the plate. Gary Carter and Mike Scosia weren't far behind.

Agree with most of the this but have one question to ask.

Wonder how Michigan feels knowing that we seemingly have their number?

Well we got to play some mediocre Michigan teams under Rick Rod and Hoke although beating Jimmy Harbaugh 2 years ago was a great win. That is why we have Michigan's number, just another example of how a great program can got stale without the right coach.

Remember when Bama was in the dumps off and on for 15 or so years and went through coaches like DiCaprio goes through hot models?

Fitzscumbag is a loser without 2 big 10 championships or 4 big 10 coach of the year awards.

See Iowa destroy his “team”
