Seeing that the only returning RBs have less than 100 yards rushing between them, I would hope the freshmen would be in the mix.

They will get pretty heavy loads from the get go. Really wish one of them would of enrolled early.
Prayer has never helped in the past. In fact I think it makes AIRBHG smite us even more.

Dawson as been getting reps with the 1st unit. Brad rogers is also getting some looks but as long as Dawson and Garmon and Hill are in the wings he is still the main man at FB. and that has to help any of the youngsters as the TB to have a seasoned FB blocking for them.
personally the rb with the best hands in catching passes out of the backfield will be the starter, this what give me confidence Garmon will earn the job as in HS he lined up in the BF and in the slot at 6'2 that's a nice target out of the backfield

Nate Meier might come in and surprise us. His style fits well, I think. At this point, I'm just about expecting Dawson to be the starter.

We need multiple backs in the mix from day one. Enough of this screwing around ordaining one RB as starter and wasting everybody else. We don't have a Barry Sanders caliber back, so find out what these guys excel at and use them all in different packages. Canizeri, Bullock, Johnson and Rodgers were painfully underutilized last year, so we pay the price this year with 0 experience.

You play to win the game.
These are mantras that should be followed, yet aren't. Hopefully Davis changes some of that. Having a change of pace back is good, letting a stud freshman play is good (experience doesn't come from the sideline), and striving to make big plays on offense is good. These things can all happen, or it will be same old same old.
Different isn't always better, but you have to try if you want to find out.

Right, because we rarely threw downfield last year, never play stud freshmen, and never used two backs in past years.
I agree change is good: changing the same tired, factually inaccurate complaints about Iowa's offense. I remember more than one game last year where JV threw a dozen bombs that were either dropped or overthrown, and more than one poster complained afterwards "we have to attack more vertically!"
Which is not to say I didn't have complaints about the Iowa O. Just not the ones above. And I agree with you Davis is likely to be a positive breath of fresh air and enthusiasm and change.
