Last loss scoring in the 90's?

I remember a Davis team scoring over a hundred and losing to a team with no scholarship players.
 
Too bad you have to play defense and rebound also to win games. Lickliter's teams held other teams below 60. Not like it mattered or meant anything.

Didn't we play every Final Four team that year pretty close other than that sick UNC team? I thought we beat Louisville and Michigan State and we should have beaten Illinois but we got Bained. Then the Administration got a little overprotective and we lost a guy and we had a few bad calls in the tournament game and we got jobbed, otherwise we prolly would have had at least an Elite Eight team.

There's two ways a lot of NCAA tournament teams win games. You have the Kansas State/West Virginia style which is athletes, reckless, pressure defense, poor free throw shooting, dribble penetration, block shots, tattoos, above the rim, lackadaisical at times, undisciplined at times, frustrating at times.

Then you have the Wisconsin's if you will. The slow it down, cerebral teams, who rebound, play solid defense, shoot well, shoot free throws well, always hustle, have long scoring droughts, lack athleticism, struggle under intense perimeter defensive pressure, boring at times.

Both styles work. I'd rather watch the Kansas State/West Virginia style though.

I feel like the 2004-2005 Iowa basketball team is the least remember NCAA tournament team Iowa has had. I barely even remembered who they played in the tournament that year and there aren't really too many memories from that season aside from probably the Big 10 tournament game against Michigan State.

The OT loss to Illinois as well was another memorable one.

Well, I remember seeing Pierce in his last game versus Indiana. I believe Alford had benched all the starters to open that game bince he was upset with them (take a note Fran) for losing in Evanston.

I hate to say it, but if Pierce doesn't get bounced off that squad, I think we would have done some damage with him in the tournament. We just kind of imploded when we went from Pierce to Reed and Henderson getting huge minutes. Alford pulled them together and put together a nice late season run to make it into the Tourney, but our fate was sealed when we lost Pierce. People forget how good that team looked early. Hell, they beat UNI, ISU and Drake - how great would that feel again?

I was at that ISU game. It was my first Iowa basketball game live, I forgot about that. I guess I forget that season mostly because I was working full time and going to school full time at that time (haha, I said "time" a lot) so I didn't get to watch too many games.

Pierce had all the tools... Too bad he did not understand "no" means "no" when dealing with women and too bad he did not play for a coach who could have helped him develope more.

If he played 4 years at Iowa he had a legit shot to play in the NBA. He had that type of physical talent.

It was stacked, Horner, Brunner, Haluska, Hansen, Doug Freaking Thomas, SonderGorney, Henderson, Reed, JR Angle (wasn't he a top 100 recruit?), Alex Thompson (had that huge 3 pointer in the tournament but then transferred to ISU). I believe Pierce also had another year of eligibility remaining. Man, Alford would have had two phenomenal years in a row because I think all the key pieces were back in '05-'06. A good starting 5 and good role players off the bench - Thomas was one of the most athletic we've had in a long time. That team would have rolled Indiana yesterday, Erek Hansen would have Shaqed Zeller about 10 times yesterday.
