Last bubble spot up for grabs

Looking at the expert picks, they pretty much agree on 67 of 68 teams. St. Marys, LaSalle, Mississippi & Boise seem to be the consensus 'in'.

Most of them disagree on the last spot :

Middle Tennessee, Tennessee, Kentucky, Iowa, UMass, S-Miss, Alabama & Maryland

I would put one the 2 Tenn teams as the favorite to take the last spot. Iowa shot probably about 10-15%. Just have to hope this is the year the committee really embraces the advanced computer models (Sargarin, KenPom, BPI) and puts some value in to our our numerous close loses against top teams.

The problem with St Marys & LaSalle, IMO is their RPI is really the only thing keeping them in the conversation. Also I dont see the A10 getting 5. I think Tennessee, Iowa, Maryland and Kentucky have done more than St. Marys and La Salle.

You might be right, but pretty much everybody has those 2 in now. I think St. Marys is very overrated and would love to play them.

I actually think Middle Tennessee might sneak in to the last at large spot like Iona did last year. I think Iowa has a strong case against all of these teams. I don't think our SOS will hurt us at all like some say, we played 13 games against the top 50 ! I think overcoming the RPI is the only thing holding Iowa back, but that might be too much to overcome.

And the component of the RPI that is hurting us the most right now is non conference strength of schedule. So SOS is what will ultimately hurt us.

Midd. Tenn St. has beaten no one. If they get in, it is just a cry in your beer for a poor little team pick.
LaSalle, eh, nothing much of sustenance there either.
St. Marys, same.
Just cause you rack up wins doesn't mean you have played much of anyone.

GIVE ME A HUGE BREAK!

I'll take Iowa, Tennesee and Maryland against LaSalle, Bosie and St Mary's and watch us go 3-0 against that group anyday.

Is this the same A-10 that got wiped out of the NIT last year with 7 teams including Dayton who we spanked in the opener? We beat Bosie last year by 10+ points at home. Purdue beat the vaunted St Mary's in the first round of the NCAA's last year and that was not even a great Purdue team.

Taking these teams is all about giving the little guys some love with the last 4 spots so they don't whine.

Because there definitely isn't any whining going on around here from a high-major fanbase.

Nice agree. Letting the little guys in comes down to, really, feeling sorry for them if they don't get in.

I am simply stating that I'd take the power 3 every time against these teams. Lasalle lost to Central Connecticut. The last four spots are for the PC police to make some leagues feel liked they are involved in the tourney so they shut-up.

If either of those teams were in the big 10 thy would be battling to make the nit.
