And is smaller than the Pit. We simply cannot expect to retain high quality coaches with our current facilities. We need to add a second level to Carver to get capacity up to 20k.

How does KU get 16K+ fans into that fieldhouse?? I have been there for a game and it doesn't seem like 16k

Oh gotchya.
Either way we need to expand. Having people watching from the parking lot because Carver is packed might seem fun but they should be in there cheering on the Hawks!

Why on earth did Texas, Ttech, and PSU build arenas that large. People DO NOT go to basketball games in those places.

Well Texas did it because they can. As for the other two your guess is as good as mine. Did Tech build it before or after they hired B. Knight?

I'd guess UT averages at least 95% full for men's conference games.

How do they fit over 17K into Assembly Hall? On TV that place looks like it can only hold about 11K.

I've always wondered that myself. Considering there's basically no seats behind the baskets.

Texas averages 13,358 in big 12 play. I threw out a&m cause it says 21k for attendance. Obviously that isn't possible in that arena.

But they likely do go to concerts and other events, having a larger arena in a college town likely allows for some additional tours to schedule events in those venues.

This is exactly why it is so freakin loud and intimidating in there. I've been to several games there and it's amazing. Smaller than Carver, but holds more. Fans are pretty much stacked on top of each other as the stands are more straight up where as Carver is spread out wide... if that makes sense. The top row is in the rafters literally. Not for the people who want comfort, as there is about a 99% chance the guy behind you will have his knee in between your shoulders all game.... kinda like Kinnick can be at least in my North End Zone seats. One time I had this guys knee just driving into me all half and it ended up being Gayle Sayers.
