Laporta's overturned catch

We've been waiting all season for a TE to step up and even tho that was a no catch it was important. He was open and a threat down the middle. He could be big threat in the last half of the season. Now defenses can't just focus on the wide outs. Now there's a middle threat.
That second catch he made was very good. The first one he had in his hands, but the NW defender raked down on his arm and pulled LaPorta's hand off the ball. It was a good defensive play. Next time, LaPorta grabbed and secured the ball, and he'll do so in the future. But sometimes the other team makes a good play on defense. In case people haven't noticed - Iowa's defensive players do that a lot.

Those two looks will open up options for Iowa, glad they showed it against NW. Don't forget the TEs.

BTW, I think it was a good call. The thing that bothered me was how long it took for them to decide to review it. Even after Fitzgerald called the timeout, they didn't decide immediately.

Lord knows we need something, because the only guy who might have a shot at making a difference in the running game isn’t going to see the field until we’re down 9 with 5 minutes to play.

I think it was a good call. But the point is that he was open. Iowa hasn't had a TE open down the middle like that since last year. I hope we see more of him. He could be a factor for the offense.
